Thom Hartmann hit on this last week about the bailout....
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 04:40 PM by Postman
He sees this Republican revolt of the bailout bill as part of the October Surprise. It goes something like this.....

The republicans blew up this housing bubble with their deregulation of the financial services sector. Alan Greenspan advocated people to go out and get these cheap loans by lowering interest rates. George Bush implemented his "Ownership Society" doctrine of pushing NINJA loans (no income no job applications) for people who otherwise couldn't afford to buy a house. Within this framework, the Wall Street speculators made their killing until.....

The bubble exploded. Now they are exposed for Billions.....

In moves Karl Rove and the republican election wizards. The question now becomes ..........

How do we (the republican party) get the Democratic Party to own this thing? How can we marry George W. Bush, one of the most unpopular people on the planet, to the Democratic Party? How can we separate John McCain from George W Bush?

The answer lies in what we are seeing now unfolding on our tv screens.....The Democrats have walked right into the trap. We see Democrats in Congress coming to the rescue of George W Bush, we see Republicans running away from this bailout in the House enmasse. We see Democrats on TV giving reasons why the working class needs to bailout Wall Street and not a Republican is to be found anywhere near the cameras.
