United and informed we stand. Divided we fall further.
Yes, the banks that have ripped us all have reaped enormous profits over the past years are trying to get rescued now that the deals turns sour. Where have all their humonguous profits gone? More derivative speculation??
Yes, whether or not a bailout passes, the common people will suffer. The have-somes see 401K in danger or deposits > 100 k in danger. The have-nots will have even less chance at a job or a stable income, or a chance to get ahead.

The ruling class have manufactured their crisis, their shock. Read the Shock Doctrine, look at the timing, see who decided: the "Federal" Reserve, the executive branch through the Treasury, and the financial elite (with more than a bit of collusion between these groups).
Does ANYONE believe the people who have known about for years and manufactured the crisis are gonna come out worse when all is said and done? Come on now - not without a massive push of an educated populace. There is one advantage : EVERYBODY, dem and repub voters, cares about their own money.
We are ALL in the same boat.

The bickering between the have-somes and have-nots on this board is counterproductive. Don't forget who the real culprits are people!
If we are to stand ANY chance, middle class and the poor (even though I hate calling the majority of people that) should not be divided.

I will also confess that my head is simply too small for much of these numbers and financial terms. And I try. So the basis question of what to do is simply way over our heads at the moment imho for 95% of DU.
To me, the bailout is to be rejected out of hand because of who asks it and who made it necessary. But that's just a gut reaction, no more, no less.

Wouldn't it be great if DUs most educated and thorough posters come together and provide the much needed insight? Even starting out with correct basic facts would be a step forward.

Just my 2 cents. And yes, I'm a dreamer.
regards
bmc
