This bailout is a trap for the Democrats!!
All the Rethugs are going to vote against it. You can see it happening right now on C-Span. If the dems pass it without rethugs on board they are toast!! Is W falling on his sword for his party and McCain?

All callers to C-Span are pissed about this bill. This is bizarre.

11. They will. Stop being so paranoid.
Even if they don't vote for it and even if they are not punished for their flip flop they still cannot use this bill against the Dems as most people blame the Repubs for this crisis.

40. NO, they won't vote for it. They'll oppose it, and then use it politically.
They'll hang Bush and Wall Street around our party, which has stupidly pushed this bill in spite of widespread opposition from the voting populace. There will not be even half the House GOP reps that vote for this bill.

This may give McCain the one chance he has to win.

44. Exactly
With all the talk about the Depression going on here, you would hope that people might realize that the Depression was as bad as it was because of a *lack* of action.

20. A little tidbit I heard this morning on MSNBC's Joe (ick) in the Morning;
it was Jim Cramer (another ick)who said that some companies will not partake of this "program" of the bailout because they don't like the lid on the top dogs' salaries at $500,000--if higher than that, the company cannot deduct. He threw his hands in the air. To me, if companies will forego this bailout because of the salary thing, then I doubt we need this plan.

.. if they were serious about solving this crisis.. they would simply pass a law that freezes foreclosures and allows the govt to bargain with the mortgage holders.

36. Too Many Questions
I am uncomfortable with politicians of either party making these kinds of decisions based on information from political appointees from the very industry that is falling apart. We need to demand the time to get input from the worlds leading economists. We also, need to define the goal of this bill. Are we trying to save some large banks or are we trying to save the economy? The actions required may differ dramatically. We ned answers and a more defined problem with a defined desired outcome. We have a government running around like the building is on fire but no one has addressed the core of the problem.

38. Man, this totally confuses me...the way some Repubs and 99% of the public is against the bailout
and yet Bush and the Dems (and some Repubs) are for it! The dividing line is like totally blurry.

I always think it's suspect to do something out of a fearful place. Being rash is being foolish, in most instances. I don't see how this situation is going to be improved by throwing more money at it. Unless things change at a fundamental level, it is just a quick fix, IMO.

42. I don't understand this either.
I would expect the Dems to oppose the bill put forth by Bush and the Repubs to support it. Totally the opposite and the Dems have enough votes to pass it (I think) yet it seems to be stuck. Go figure.

Part of their supposed illusion is to even have 'sides.' There are no sides! Even the most ardent patriots don't really care about this country! How could you encourage jobs to go overseas and yet claim to love America and want it to thrive? They don't want everything to be okay because it's easier to control people when their backs are up against the wall. Think about that report by someone on here that they are preparing for civil unrest!
