I told her he is Christian and that whoever told her he's Muslim is lying to her. I asked who told her that. She just stated the BS again, "Why do you think he's named that?" and that 'they' told her after checking it out.

But I know where she got it. She refuses the evil TV machine into her devoutly Christian home. She's getting this smear from church. It's so frustrating.

She also tried to get me to buy the religion crap again. They just can't stop themselves. So I gave her some uncomfortable information. Maybe it was unkind but I am so furious at the sheeple in this country that I can barely contain it. This crap is still going around. Even if he was a Muslim before, isn't like a Christian wet dream to convert them to Christianity???

The Muslim comment was clearly meant as a smear, though she knows I'm not racist. She knows I'm not Christian too and pushes that crap on me as well, but I let it slide (usually). And someone from church, very probably a consensus, pissed in that pool.
She is a "Mass-In-Latin, cover-your-hair in public" - Catholic. A zealot, but in a sweet way. And Controlling, but aren't most all fear-based people.

She is working poor. The church gets her hard earned money. I'm just furious over the evil doers using these simps for money and power. But they have enabled the betrayal of democracy and ruined our Republic. I'm just not able to bite my tongue out of respect anymore. I don't have any respect any more for those idiots who would push the Prayer of St. Francis in public school but not abide by one single line of it in practice. So I say my mind when it has gone too far. Fuck it.

His aunt was quite taken aback and stated that she just LOVED Sarah Palin. Then she questioned me about Obama: 'Had I ever read Revelations?' 'yes', I replied. 'Had I ever STUDIED Revelations?' 'yes', I replied. Then she stated, 'Then you should know that Obama is the Anti-Christ'. I was absolutely stunned, and ripped her a new one. Mr. ld's uncle then stated that he had heard from Obama's own mouth that he was a muslim. Mr. ld quickly corrected him on that one, and I told the uncle that the uncle was lying. The dinner degenerated from there.

Actually, Barak is the Hebrew, Barack or Barak(a) is the African (Swahili). But both words basically mean the same thing: Swahili - blessing, prosperity; Hebrew - blessed, and I've found it also means Lightning; Arabic (mubaarak) - blessed. It's interesting how the name wound up in Swahili but I won't go into that now.

Anyway, the Barak of the Bible was an army commander, under Deborah - a Hebrew judge who was gifted with the power of prophesy from God, and leader of Israel, one of just a few female leaders I might add. He came from an intellectual, non-religious background -- sounds very much like my own -- where religion was approached in a kind of non-hostile but anthropological way.

His community organizer work in Chicago involved interacting with a lot of Christian church folk. So one of the pastors Obama was working with as a community organizer suggested he attend church, and when he finally did, he wept openly at the sermon. It was a true heart-opening experience. When he took that come-to-Jesus walk to the altar rail, it was a conversion experience.

(And no one prayed over him to protect him from witchcraft, either, LOL.)

I really recommend that people give this a try if they think they have any chance at all of opening some of these misinformed minds.

Then follow up with, 'You cannot have it both ways... Either he was going to this radical Christian church all these years or he is a Muslim. Which is it?'
