Ah marriage is between a man and a woman (Barf....)
so I am at the local coffee shop and I had the luck of seeing the Californians for Values (something like that) go by to ahem get a-protest going

Here are some observations about this.

1.- They dropped leaflet, so I had a "talk" with one of these boys. And they are actually quite afraid that if the gay are allowed any of these civil rights it will be contagious. I pointed out that his preacher does not have to marry the gay... leave that to the county judge... this thing about separation of church and state and the state can marry them without even one preacher present... and that if the wife leaves him over the gay... they were having other issues. For the record... the way he was talking of the gay is the way the good ol' boys talked about the blacks and the hispanics not so long ago. So yes, it is a civil rights issue... very much so. These boys don't want to stop at marriage, but go to housing and employment, since they scare them that much.

2.- I asked why the hell were they wearing the colors of the Internationale? I mean when exactly did they join the Communist Party? He looked down and tried to 'splain to me that those were not the colors of the communist party... he might be right, as those colors are not just the ones of the Internationale, but hey... nice to ahem dig a little.

3.- No woman in the group... hell the fact they engaged me surprised me... after all I ain't barefoot, pregnant or quiet for that matter.

4.- Now this actually is points to them... they all wore suits and ties... and were clean cut. Seems they read MLK on how to do this... and this means clean cut and very presentable. Of course, it is also the uniform of the right, aka brooks brothers suits... remember Florida? There you go.

Oh and on the way to the supermarket they got scarcely a honk in-in support.

Ah the days...

1. Good for you.
Divorced twice, and I blame both failures totally on the fact that gay people love each other.

Easy excuse!

(Actually, on great terms with both exes, who at one time recognized a studly dude when they saw him . . . Course, that was a number of years, a number of pounds, and a number of hairs ago.)

3. I promise!
Finally going in on Monday for that colonoscopy I have put off for years.

Sunday is going to be a "special" day. But I figure it's as good a time as any to kick-start getting back in shape, as I will lose serious pounds prepping.

Sunday dinner: Chicken broth. Mmmmmm.

Later? TV in the bathroom.

9. After being out for 40 years and being together with my partner for the last 23 years,
I have developed a thick skin. I take my humor where I can find it!

10. Religion
My church wants to be able to marry my partner and me. The government will not let them. Talk about governmental infringment of religion.

12. Agreed... but for this guy it was his preacher didn't want to marry
the gay... yes they speak that way...

That's why I pointed this out... his preacher does not have to

And in reality this will have to be federal, just like civil rights

11. Are there currently any states where civil unions are taking place instead of marriage?
If so, I think it would be great to have straight couples getting civil unions instead of getting married. That would send a pretty powerful message.
