Yard sign THIEVES
can be F*cked up w/ TANGLEFOOT

I have posted about this product in threads that complain of stolen signs.

TANGLEFOOT tree barrier around the edges of a sign will be devastating to those who attempt to steal them. The stuff is stickier than pine sap, and doesn't wash out near as easily. Their clothes and ANYTHING they touch after will be destroyed.

PLEASE spend $5 or so at your local garden center if you are in a risky area.

1. Someone stole the sign my mother put up (in a legitimate, high-traffic area)
the other day, within 30 minutes of her having put it up. I am going to get some more signs and continue to replace them everytime they get taken. I notice the McCain/Palintology signs haven't been taken on that road.

3. Tanglefoot is the solution....honestly
Cheap, non-toxic.

I would suggest a paintball gun for the local McInsane signs..... I would, but I would never suggest defacing property.

6. Almost any nursery or garden supply store
I've been using it for years on my trees - only lately for signs.

2. I prefer bear traps, but to each their own...
Seriously, a motion-sensing spotlight pointed at the yard sign has a whole lot of deterrence factor without injusing anybody.

4. Tanglefoot injures no one...
It destroys clothes, car upholstry, hair.... anything it touches.....

But it won't injure anyone.

12. 3-4 applications of 'Goo-Gone' will barely touch it
It is basically 'Hyper-pine sap'. It keeps insects from climbing up your tree in normal use.

Imagine grabbing a sign from a yard that has been ringed w/ Tanglefoot.... Your hands are now coated in 'mega sap', if you are driving, so is your steering wheel etc. If you touched your face you are screwed, and if you touched your clothing - just toss them in the trash....

Good luck.

8. Here's a tip from 2004
Fishing line strongly attached to sign and immovable object (tree, bolder, etc). Make sure to give the line some slack so that it does not run out until the thief is up to full speed (I'd say 20-30 feet should do it).

And set up a webcam or video camera so that you can share the hilarity on YouTube.

13. Yard signs don't seem to be very much available/around this election
Probably b/c yard signs didn't do very much to win (m)any votes vs. the cost of all those ~ often stolen ~ signs.

14. Tanglefoot's a great idea
but sprinkle a little cayenne into it and mix it up well.

You don't just want to screw them up, you want to HURT them.

Capsaicin won't do permanent damage, but they'll get some real retribution when they pee.
