McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate
Posted: 06:28 PM ET

From CNN Correspondent Dana Bash

(CNN) — McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.

In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.

and Andrew Sullivan comments:

A "date yet to be determined." Let me guess: November 5th. I mean: why does she need to debate at all? She won't give press conferences, so why should she debate?

16. Possibly their intention is to attract more attention to the vice-presidential debate.
The Republicans' best chance at the moment is the vice-presidential debate, I suspect - Obama is likely to out-debate McCain, but not many people care about McCain, they're more likely to vote for Palin, and she has a good chance of being accounted the winner over Biden.

Putting the VP debate later would mean it was still fresh in people's memories.

17. My husband thinks McCain had a small stroke.
His eye's all f'ed up.

I dunno, could be!

Of course if he had a stroke, even a small one, he needs to drop out.
