It's one of those match-yourself-to-the-candidate things. I was shocked to see that I favored McCain's view three times. I need an exorcism.

1. I picked McCain's answer 3 times too. And that quiz kinda ticked me off.
In some of the questions they deliberately picked vague statements that disguised the differences between the candidates. I think they're trying to help McCain.

8. Agreed - some of those statements were almost identical
Especially the ones on immigration, I accidentally picked McCain's quotes for both of those.

I'm happy to say that I came down squarely for Obama, however.

12. I did as well. It set up people to pick McCain. "Leave it to the states" with no other info is bad.
They set it up so that Obama looked more conservative than McCain on the issue. It's not true, but if he had been clear he never would've left that door open.

4. Ick, that's nasty. I did better.
Only "Mc'd up" once.

But the biggest problem with that quiz is that it assumes the policies will actually be true to their quotes.

Kinda leaves out the "say one thing, do another" that politicians in general (and Republicans in spades) have a reputation for.

5. The only McCain view I agreed with
was the one place where I didn't agree with EITHER statement and had to pick the best of two bad choices (gay marriage - I don't like leaving it up to the states as the Obama quote said because there are some states that are just too far to the right to ever be trusted with eliminating inequality - frankly, I believe that that there should be no such thing as "gay" marriage - there should just be marriage and any two people who love each other and want to should be allowed to enter into it).

Many of the quotes were so subtly different that you really had to read them closely to decide. Tricks like one essentially saying "I will do x" and the other saying "I will try to do x."

7. The problem with that quiz is that it is based on quotes ...
... and everyone knows the GOP co-opts liberal ideas when they speak.
