Let's get serious. ReThugs don't really care who's screwing who or who's getting screwed by whom -- unless it happens to be a Democrat.
At what particular point in history did sex become a crime?
I suspect it was during the Elizabethan era in England when fucking became a "sinful" activity. Of course, it didn't stop anyone from fucking. But it did make it something to be sneered at, condemned, and in some cases, turned into a capital offense.
So how did we let the ReThugs claim it as an issue with which to attack normal, everyday human behavior?
Perhaps they tuned into the frustrations of those who weren't getting any. Perhaps they played to the psychoses of those who were ashamed of enjoying pleasure. Perhaps they simply pounced on a religious superstition that condemns normal human behavior.
One example of the ReThug success in criminalizing sex is the impeachment of Bill Clinton -- a monumental testament to the stupidity of the American people.
So here's my question. When do we once and for all stop paying attention to men who unzipped their flies and women who dropped their drawers? Does this really matter when it comes to the major issues we face?
There are, no doubt, those of you who believe this is a critical moral issue. But think about this. Does anyone really care that FDR and JFK were screwing women who weren't their wives? Doesn't it count that they made the world a better place in which to live?
