"Anti-American filmmaker wants to abolish 4th of July."
Take the basic plot premise from Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and replace Ebeneezer Scrooge with fictional filmmaker 'Michael Malone' and the ghosts are icons of American history. The latest "comedy" from David Zucker (Airplane, Naked Gun, Scary Movie) includes such stars as:

*Kelsey Grammer as General George S Patton
*Jon Voight as George Washington

also with James Woods, Dennis Hopper, Leslie Nielsen and even Bill O'Reilly in a cameo!

...Funny stuff! :sarcasm: Due in theaters Oct 3.

Dennis Hopper? WTF? I thought he was hip.
I mean, huh?

Still I'm surprised this open political pandering came from they guy who did Airplane!

23. Yeah, I was surprised too when I found out.. He went to the dark side during the
Reagan era - and after being a hippy. He was the type of person Hunter S. Thompson wrote about in Generation of Swine. No real values, just follows the tide or what's profitable.
The rest of them turned after 9/11.

20. Zucker is a self proclaimed "9/11 Republican"
meaning spineless cowardly types like Zucker, James Woods, Trey Parker, & Dennis Miller who though they would capitalize on all the neocon induced Jingoism. Now they are finding out alienating your fan base to embrace corrupt ideology was not a smart move.

Ever since he went on his <Adjective> Movie kick...

I wish people would stop going to his crap on celluloid and put him out of a job.

8. Independence day doesn't really mean much to those of us who's ancestors weren't here for that war
It's important, but for most Americans there's no real association with that war.

I had some people here in the 1600's and 1700's but not many.

13. I don't know about that
I think it is part of our national identity. Or should be. July 4th in particular was a day that speaks to the best of what it means to be an America. Even if you are a new immigrant who becomes a citizen you are still participating in what happened on July 4th.
