Delegate out $120,000 when hotel tryst goes bad

He met her in the bar of the swank hotel and invited her to his room. Once there, the woman fixed the drinks and told him to get undressed.

And that, the delegate to the Republican National Convention told police, was the last thing he remembered.

When he awoke, the woman was gone, as was more than $120,000 in money, jewelry and other belongings.

3. Sounds like the plot of the famous British folk song 'Maggie May'
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 07:34 AM by LeftishBrit
Come gather round you sailor lads, and listen to me plea,
And when you've heard me tale you'll pity me.
I was a bloody fool in the port of Liverpool,
The first time that I came home from sea.
We were paid our trip to home, from the port of Sierra Leonne
And 3 pounds 10 a week it was me pay.
With a pocket full of tin, I was very soon taken in
By a girl with the name of Maggie May.

Oh, dirty Maggie May, they have taken her away,
And she'll never walk down Lime Street any more.
For she robbed so many sailors and captains of the whalers,
That dirty robbing no-good Maggie May!

Oh, well how I remember when I first met Maggie May,
She was walkin’ up and down old Canon Place,
With a figure so Divine—Like a frigate of the line,
And me, bein’ just a sailor I gave chase
In the morning I awoke, I was flat and stoney broke,
No jacket, trousers, waistcoat could I find.
When I asked her where they were, She said “My very good sir,
They’re down at Kelly’s Pawn Shop number nine.”
.

To the Pawn Shop I did go, but no clothes there could I find.
Policeman came and he took that gal away.
The judge he guilty found her, of robbing a homeward-bounder
And paid her passage out to Botany Bay!

Though I somehow doubt that a Liverpool sailor would have been in possesion of $120,000! Republicans seem to be not only bloody fools, but RICH bloody fools!

So the valuables taken add up to US$60k. Was Schwartz really carrying an equal amount of cash? If so, for what possible honest purpose?

5. The haul included a $30,000 watch,
a $20,000 ring, a necklace valued at $5,000, earrings priced at $4,000 and a Prada belt valued at $1,000, police said."

No wonder she wanted him to undress first :silly:

6. What the hell was he doing with $120,000...
...worth of "money, jewelry and other belongings" in a hotel room?

The link didn't work for me, so I couldn't read the whole article.
He was probably cheating on his wife.
Or there was likely some other reason that I have no sympathy for the guy.
