COLORADO VOTERS: Register to vote by mail. Already registered? Register anyways!
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 08:33 PM by backscatter712
Want to make the task of voting easier?

Want to avoid some of the right-wing vote-suppression tactics? Get out to your friendly local election office, and register to vote by mail!

The vote-by-mail registration is actually a misnomer, because voting by mail is only one of the things that registering to vote by mail allows you to do.

You get a paper ballot. You can vote through the mail if you want. Or you can bring the ballot to the election office and drop it in the ballot box yourself. You can avoid the lines and vote early. Or you can turn in your mail-in ballot at your vote center on election day and vote the old fashioned way. It allows you to vote in ways that are far more convenient. It helps with the Obama campaign GOTV efforts.

And by voting early, you can avoid some of the dirty tricks such as vote centers with broken machines and long lines. Like I mentioned, you get a paper ballot, so you're submitting evidence of your correct vote, rather than relying on a Diebold touchscreen machine and trusting it to record your vote correctly. By reregistering, you can make sure your correct address and such is on file with the elections office, reducing the odds of vote caging. And since you get the ballot at home, you can fill it out at your leisure, doing research and making sure you've done your homework when voting. Don't think the rethugs won't try some of their dirty tricks in Colorado - they're a swing state, and we're under the spotlight this year.

The voting registration deadline in Colorado is October 6th. Don't miss the deadline!

There is absolutely no reason not to register to vote by mail, and lots of reasons why you should.

6. I have a thread related to this
"NATIONAL CHECK IF I CAN VOTE DAY' I am proposing that every liberal/progressive organization and blog to declare and demand that day to check your voter registration to make sure that it's good and if not to take steps to correct it so you can vote in November. If we make a big deal out of it...we can get some mileage out of this.

8. Register again!
The SOS has effectively removed about 20% of registered democrats by weasley challenges. The truth is you need to check to see if you're still registered. Or better as the OP suggests just vote soon.
