I STILL SAY: Sarah Palin is a BAD MOTHER....forget "Bridge to Nowhere" and "TrooperGate."
Sarah Palin is still a Bad Mother. As a female that matters to me and the message is getting lost while the RW tries to turn her into some kind of "Wonder Woman" executive and the Media "Fact Checks" her and finds she "just waffles a bit" so Dems are really out in left field trying to find some scandal about her.

SARAH PALIN IS A BAD MOTHER...and Fundie Christian Women should understand about this...because they live every day (many of them) with "BAD FATHERS!" Drive that home Dems! She is NOT an EXAMPLE for most Mothers to follow...

I'm resurrecting a post of mine that's gone off to "DU Archives," because I believe that Dems need to find away to "weave this into discussions about Palin." The other stuff just isn't working...but as a Female and Mother...I'm telling you ...Sarah Palin is not an example of "how to raise a family" that is an example of what she seems to represent to the RW Evangelicals and those who Praise Her.

Misreading American Women?

I've had a few emails on these lines today:

No sooner did my best friend hear about the Sarah Palin pick than I received an e-mail from her. It said simply: "Sarah Palin is a Bad Mother!"

I was at work but could not resist giving her a call to follow up. She told me that she was watching CNN and heard that Ms. Palin had 5 children and that one was only 4 months old and born with Down Syndrome. "How in the name of GOD, can she even think about leaving her child or taking her child on the campaign trail for 70 days?" She was indignant.

Let me tell you why My best friend Liz matters. She is 37 years old and Catholic.

She has three children under the age of 9 years old. She lives in Reston, VA (the suburbs of D.C.). She is a registered Independent and has voted both Democratic and Republican. She is a stay at home mother and was a RABID Hillary Clinton supporter. She was considering staying home instead of voting this November. I had been trying to convince her of the FOLLY of this stance. Anyway...

I guess that McCain feels that Liz is just the demographic that he could poach with the selection of Palin. Instead, Liz tells me that there is "no way that those two people (McCain/Palin) should be in charge of her kids' future." Today she decided to vote for Barack.

2. As a mother, I would not
subject my own child to the scrutiny that Gov. Palin is exposing her children to, HOWEVER, our's is not to judge her skills as a parent insofar as it is pertinent to this election. We must stick to the facts here. Personally, I do not share what appear to be her ideas on parenting, BUT I have not lived her life, so therefore, I must criticize her only upon her record as an evangelical (and the implications on my own daughter), an asset to the oil industry, and as a global warming naysayer.

8. If it speaks to judgement, which traces from character...I can and will judge it.
Speaking of facts....I think she's a neglectful mother too.

9. She is being marketed as a Super Mom and the McCain's camp already said this was a race based on
personality. I believe her parenting skills are fair game if they are using the criteria of her being a great Mom is a reason to vote for her.

7. No, she wouldn't be called a "bad mother" in

my neighborhood, but then most people don't live in what the police refer to as the war zone. What she would be called in my neighborhood probably wouldn't be acceptable to be posted in polite society.

14. To be "polite" ...the neighbor who "foists her kids on you...because she's just "sooooo busy" and
she rings your doorbell often with "crises after crises" of why she needs your help...and then you find out it was because she and her hubby wanted to go out to celebrate "anniversary or birthday...or something" and she couldn't get any relatives or other friends to "sit" for "her kids" and "Gosh...it's so Important to Todd and Me to do this...can't you help us out?" :eyes:

I have had too many "neighbors do this to me who were exactly like Sarah and Hubby to count...(we've moved around alot...and dealth with many "neighbors from all walks" and mothers like Sarah? There was always ONE in EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD...but after awhile all of us got wise to her tactics and started to "politely refuse" to take care of her kids when there was once again "another crises" that arose that she needed to foist her responsibilities off on us.

Just saying...

11. McCain and Palin each threw one of their children under the bus...
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 06:07 PM by timeforarevolution
for personal gain and power.

McCain threw his adopted daughter from Bangladesh under the bus by hiding her and indeed pandering to the same racist wingnuts who DIDN'T vote for him in 2000 because of her.

Palin put Bristol in the national spotlight with no notice, as she was in the midst of a personal crisis. She was shellshocked, holding her little brother to hide her own pregnancy. Doing what they do best, the repukes spun her out-of-wedlock pregnancy into a hypocritical "blessed event."

I make no judgment about Bristol nor their parenting skills, or lack thereof, regarding the pregnancy.

Would the right-wingers have withheld judgment and ridicule had the same happened to a 17-year-old Chelsea Clinton? Ha!!!!

I do judge both McCains for sucking up to the same people who ATTACKED their daughter. Unforgivable.

I do judge the Palins for having no consideration for their children, at least one of whom was going through a significant personal crisis, in her rushed acceptance of the running mate position. Despicable.

FAMILY VALUES MY ASS.

13. Absolutely!
As far as roll models go, they score a big fat "F".. last person they fobbed off on us, chews with his mouth full, touches world leaders, acts like a fifth grader, has no class, no style, is abusive, a Liar as well.

NOW we have a suckass mom figure, with a pregnant teen, who's obviously been unsupervised by either parent.. I watched those boys at the RNC and you could see the arrogance, self serving, entitled smugness on their faces. Not teaching kids ANY Empathy is a failure..

I wouldn't let my teen daughter attend a Palin rally, for love nor money.

Republicans are TERRIBLE Role models. Lying, cheating, stealing, the list goes on, and on.

A swirling cloud of corruption, obfuscation, lies, lies, lies, sneering, making fun of those below your station, PRETENDING to have Christian Ideals.

She's a HUGE PHONY, and I can't even LOOK at that "I'm Crinkling my Nose, Aren't I CUTE?" - it's the same as when Bush scrunches up his face like he's yer buddy, gonna sell ya a Car..

Is there another planet we can foist these guys off to, "Republican Planet"?

See, the problem is, the rest of us have to live in REALITY, and we get Tired because we work hard, care for our kids, fix our home, do dishes.. we don't have the ENERGY of these Psychotics and Sociopaths, Neurotics who NEVER QUIT Trying to Destroy OUR Reality, to ROB it. A normal person walks away, we have a life to live, while THEIR LIVES are nothing but BULLYING people, Creating False Realities to STEAL from us.

If we could bottle the ENERGY of these INSANE people who WON'T QUIT, we could burn up the sun with it..

15. Assymetrical Chinese Checkers
I fully agree that her "mothering skills". I was offended at the family soap opera that went on and how she used her children as props for her own ambition. The problem has been is if you attack a woman for wanting both a career and family (especially Democrats who have long stood for more equal opportunities for women) then the hypocrites in the RNC and their corporate media toadies start saying how Democrats are hypocrites. While repugnicans can live with lies and seem to flourish swimming in their hyopcrisies, Democrats can't...thus the candidates need to steer clear of a frontal attack on this part of her qualifications...but it shouldn't be hushed away...in fact this needs to be spoken underground...one on one...to friends and neighbors...in the break room at work...in email with friends.

There are many tracks we can and must travel to bypass the corporate media filters and hype that has created Palinpalooza...too much, too fast...and as is the case with a bright shiny new toy, it's the surface that dazzles. Now she's starting to wear in...and with it, she loses more and more shine the more her name and her scandals rumble in the news and tabloids. We're already starting to see a backlash and a burn-out as her novelty wears off and her vetting by media and internet continue.

The Obama campaign needs to beat Grandma Barracuda on her lack of substance (knowledge vs. experience) on national issues and the biggest question...is this a person you believe is qualified to be one 72 year old heartbeat from the "most powerful job in the world". Just on the merits...do we want to take this risk? Put the ?????s out there...and then focus on pulling Gramps from behind her skirt.

Cheers...

16. but...none of the so-called Palin Scandals have held up to scrutiny...and yet her Evangelical Female
audience will got out there in droves and vote for her all on the "Cultural, Family Values" issues.

I'm a female and a mother. I will not see Sarah Palin touted as the Example for any Christian Group to tout as the "Model Female/Mother and Wife." It's the Ultimate in Hypocracy."

We Dem Females and Mothers have every right to OUR VOICE to be heard by OBAMA as does the Religious Right to be heard by McCain/Palin.

If the Dem Party ignores mothers who think that Sarah Palin should not be confronted on this issue then they will have many angry females who wonder why our own Democratic Party favors Palin... Are they so afraid of her?
