warning: new "Marketside" stores are really stealth Wal-Marts
I got an e-mail today from Wal-Mart Watch warning that new stores opening in Phoenix called "Marketside," with many other locations soon to follow, are actually small Wal-Mart outlets, with absolutely no identification anywhere in or out of the store that they are Wal-Marts. The greedy Wal-Mart pigs apparently are not proud of their brand and must feel that it no longer appeals to shoppers either.

Subject: Wal-Mart goes stealth
From: "David Nassar, Wal-Mart Watch"

Dear ima_sinnic:

Heads up... Wal-Mart could be coming to your neighborhood, but you wouldn't know it just by looking at the new stores.

That's because Wal-Mart has gone stealth with a new chain of smaller convenience stores called Marketside. With new colors and designs -- and no mention of the word "Wal-Mart" whatsoever -- these stores are the retail giant's attempt to further saturate communities and creep into urban areas across the country, but without letting people know who's reaping the profits.

Help us spread the word about Wal-Mart's sneaky new efforts. Tell everyone you know to watch out for Marketside stores popping up in their neighborhoods:

Wal-Mart is kicking off its Marketside chain with several stores in the Phoenix area, but you know they won't stop there.

While the retail giant is trying to keep its intentions hidden, Wal-Mart accidentally posted an online job listing that revealed plans for more than 1,000 locations and $10 billion in yearly revenue.

These new stores may look different, but they're still the same Wal-Mart -- with the same poor treatment of workers, the same destruction of the environment, the same reliance on shoddy goods made overseas, the same tax avoidance schemes, and the same irresponsible business practices.

Make sure no one you know gets fooled by Wal-Mart's new Marketside stores:

Once again, Wal-Mart is trying to fool consumers with superficial gimmicks. From dishonest ad campaigns to a new logo and color scheme to Wal-Marts that aren't called "Wal-Mart," it's clear the company doesn't think very highly of its customers.

But people know better, and more and more they are refusing to give this irresponsible company their business. Now we just need to make sure they recognize "Wal-Mart" even when Wal-Mart is trying to hide from them.

Spread the work about Wal-Mart's new Marketside chain:

1. Hopefully all the derelicts will choose these stores to steal beer from...
...and will leave the 7-11s and Mom-and-Pop stores alone.

2. The last thing I want to do is defend Wal-Mart, but the MS "About" page says that it's owned by WM.

It's also been pretty well publicized.

As much as I hate Wal-Mart, it certainly doesn't look like they're trying to be terribly "stealthy" about it. A Google search for "Marketside Wal-Mart" returns 44,400 results.
