5. That's not normal weight ... that's small... avg weight at birth is at least 7 lbs!
birth weight - n

The measured heaviness of a baby when born, the average of which is about 3500 g, or 7.5 lb.

A baby weighing less than 5 lb is considered premature or underdeveloped.

9. That is not true for every one...
it really isn't. I'm sure many people here could tell you this.

I had a friend who was home less than 24 hours after giving birth. She greeted me at the door and was up and around like it was nothing. Her mom had 12 kids apparently without difficulty...so maybe heredity plays into it.

23. Then why did you say this:
"I had a friend who was home less than 24 hours after giving birth. She greeted me at the door and was up and around like it was nothing."

30. That was in reference to the idea
that they can "barely get up and go to the bathroom."

27. Not true of all women
I was over term with my son and if I had on a top that was even a little loose you could barely tell and he was 8 1/2 pounds two weeks overdue.
As far as activity level after birth my good friend works with Amish women and she said that most of them are back up taking care of the house and kids within a few hours. It depends on your activity level. I was very active while I was pregnant and maybe had 5 pounds of baby weight to loose. My son was healthy and happy. Every woman and every pregnancy is unique.
I think that there are probably other issues with her that we can take on without perpetuating this rumor.

6. My first was premature and he was much heavier and in
better condition that what we were told to expect. He weighed 4 lbs. 13 oz., born during the 33rd week, and it was obvious that I was pregnant with him.

12. This family is full of medical miracles
Yesterday there was a story going around the Bristol couldn't have been the moth because she is STILL pregnant and recently had a shotgun wedding with her boyfriend.

That is very interesting when you consider it was the January picture of her where she already seemed to be showing that started all of this controversy. She must have some elephant genes in her blood with a gestation period like that.

A very remarkable family indeed.

15. That doesn't mean she would be smaller
I was lots bigger with one kid than the other yet he was smaller at birth. I was just carrying more water, according to my doctor.

I didn't gain as much weight as the first two and he only weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz at birth.

19. I didn't even wear maternity clothes but I popped out
at the end of 7 months and then went to maternity shirts and pants. :P
I was back in my skinny jeans less than two weeks after my third was born,
thank the jeans goddess! I gained a lot of weight with my first two though
and it took a while to lose it.

11. She knew her baby had downs
I wonder what the survival rate is. Maybe she did tell her children, we dint know that. We want woman to be able to have the privacy to make their own decisions during these times. Some of these just don't make it full term. I don't know what my family, let alone the whole state would think knowing such a personal thing, that I was trying to take a downs baby to term.

16. Well, I'm 7 months along with my 2nd. There's no way to hide it.
I'm all belly. I guess from the back you might not be able to tell, except for the change in my posture and my waddling as I walk. :)

29. If it's any consolation, it wasn't a real reply to your post
just a completely randomly placed reply that the poster thought they were being 'censored' on DU, due to events in a completely different thread. That particular poster can't make any posts at all to be 'censored' any more.

24. Size of baby doubles in last month. At seven months and premature
the baby should weigh no more than 3 pounds, five ounces. Not possible that it weighed over six pounds and was premature. Somebody lied about a timeline. This lady is not the mother.
