1. I wonder what the FEMA personnel there aren't doing while they cater to these two idiots.
Obama was right on with this one. Another example of good judgment.

Crony Contractors Clean Up On Katrina
by Charlie Cray

FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has given out huge no-bid contracts for post-hurricane debris removal and reconstruction: contracts guaranteeing that many of the companies now looting U.S. taxpayers in Iraq will be cleaning up from the Gulf Coast disaster.

People whose jobs and homes were washed away in the U.S. hurricanes are finding it difficult to get in on the action.

First, President George Bush signed a waiver of the wage requirements that apply to federal contractors. He also junked affirmative-action requirements for contractors. Minority contractors say they are being shut out -- just as many Iraqi-owned companies are excluded from working on their own country's reconstruction.

FEMA has made the contracting process even more opaque by outsourcing procurement and contracting processes to such companies as Ashbritt and Acquisition Solutions.

Ashbritt's ties to Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour may be one reason that company got a $500 million contract. Barbour knows how the game works; he helped Ashbritt get similar work in Florida last year, and he consulted for companies bidding on contracts in Iraq, along with former FEMA head Joseph Allbaugh. Allbaugh, whose Baton Rouge offices are in the eye of the current contracting windfall, is reportedly consulting for Halliburton and for Shaw, another no-bid FEMA contractor.

What assholes. They are taking people who DO do the work to save lives from their jobs. John McPhoto-Op should be ashamed.

11. Raise the level of discourse
I can always count on the boards at DU to be populated with
many people who can not have an intelligent conversation about
issues or events without name calling, foul language or
flailing attacks. The same can be said for republican boards.

Sarah Palin and John McCain are people with whom you might
disagree but they are not idiots. Sarah Palin, while she has
policies and philosophies that are not consistent with my own,
seems to be very intelligent and hardworking. She's obviously
no slouch or she wouldn't be where she is today.

Posts like yours demean yourself and our party.

13. nice try...
as evidenced by Katrina and John McCain's choice of VP, these people care nothing about the United States and it's people. The only reason Sarah is where she is, is because of John McCain's lack of judgment, and temperament. He's like a car salesman trying to sell a new and shiny model with nothing under the hood.

To go to the area before a storm hits for a photo op is disgusting. It shows what vultures these two are.
