3. Has this ever happened before?
That both a sitting President and Vice President missed their own party's convention in a year where the election did not involve an incumbent candidate?

Seems unreal.

4. The convention turned out the lights and told everyone to be quiet, hoping they'd leave
Wouldn't you?

5. Other...
...Because they're so damned unpopular everywhere except among die-hard conservatives that the RNC doesn't want them out on the stage reminding the country that they and McSame are in the same party.

8. The storm is a good excuse to be out of the public eye for
the duration of the convention. They'll be too busy flying around, pretending to do something good for all the people who will again be left devastated.

Both know they are no longer respected by the party, good chance to get out of Dodge.

9. Honest answer: Because they bring disgrace to the Republican Party and must be kept out of sight.
Particularly as this newest storm brings attention to their failings during a similar storm.

10. On Reflection: Because they are cowardly bastards who refuse to face the nation.
This too.

13. Nothing in it for them.
They've had their time, wreaked their havoc, no benefit to either one of them. Somebody else is the star of the party. You know, if it's not my party I'm not going.
