Virginia Plain/Sarah Palin

Make me a deal and make it straight
All signed and sealed, i´ll take it
To robert e. lee i´ll show it
I hope and pray he don´t blow it ´cause
We´ve been around a long time just try try try tryin´ to
Make the big time...
Take me on a roller coaster
Take me for an airplane ride
Take me for a six days wonder but don´t you
Don´t you throw my pride aside besides
What´s real and make believe
Baby jane´s in acapulco we are flyin´ down to rio

Throw me a line i´m sinking fast
Clutching at straws can´t make it
Havana sound we´re trying hard edge the hipster jiving
Last picture shows down the drive-in
You´re so sheer you´re so chic
Teenage rebel of the week
Flavours of the mountain steamline
Midnight blue casino floors
Dance the cha-cha through till sunrise
Open up exclusive doors oh wow!
Just like flamingos look the same
So me and you, just we two got to search for something new
Far beyond the pale horizon
Some place near the desert strand
Where my studebaker takes me
That´s where i´ll make my stand but wait
Can´t you see that holzer mane?
What´s her name virginia plain

"Virginia Plain" is a song written in 1972 by Bryan Ferry. It was recorded by his band Roxy Music and became their first single, backed with "The Numberer" (an instrumental composed by Andy Mackay). It became a Top 10 hit in the UK, peaking at #4.

Sarah Louise Heath Palin (pronounced /ˈpeɪlɨn/ (PAY-lin); born February 11, 1964) is the current governor of the U.S. state of Alaska, and is the presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee in the 2008 United States presidential election.

In 2006, Palin was sworn in as the 11th governor of Alaska, becoming the first woman and youngest person to hold the office. She defeated incumbent governor Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary and former Democratic governor Tony Knowles in the general election. Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, city council from 1992 to 1996, then served two terms as mayor of Wasilla from 1996 to 2002. After an unsuccessful campaign for lieutenant governor of Alaska in 2002, she chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004 while also serving as Ethics Supervisor of the commission.

1. Anyone remember that movie: Varsity Blues with the teacher/ stripper.
In my head, I keep thinking she's going to say: All right now class, just say it: Vagina, Vagina, Vagina; Penis, Penis, Penis.... Then start disrobing to do a strip show... she's got those glasses that say, I'm naughty behind these glasses.. why else are all the fundie asses talking about her body parts?

3. Is that the real Vogue cover?!
That's seriously creepy. Massively creepy. Not edgy or fierce but creepy.

I'm glad I usually stick to Vogue Knitting. Ugh.

6. Phew! I just couldn't see Vogue doing something that scary.
I wonder what the real cover and photospread looked like.

7. I have this feeling Vogue isn't doing a cover on her now
She isn't the model most women in this country would pattern themselves after.

8. Oh yeah! Loved that LP. Owned it, even
Like For Your Pleasure better, though.

Now I'll have 'In Every Dream Home a Heartache' and 'Do the Strand' earworms all day.

'sokay. Could be worse. Could see that cover every time I close my eyes. Hope not. In that photo she reminds me of Sally Jesse Raphael.

9. I saw Roxy Music OPEN for Jethro Tull at Madison Square Garden
October 18, 1971, Row 11 seat 6. I have been a fan ever since. People were BOOING Brian Ferry, who came out in a black evening gown.

Just amazing.

10. Mmmmm, Ferry in 71
And the drugs were so good back then. And cheap!

So I hear.

Never saw them live, have to content myself with blurry clips on YouTube. But even in those his fabulousness is undeniable.

Lucky you!

11. Lots of memories rushing back from the night of the concert
GOOD reefer, snow flurries, ticket cost $6.50 (I still have the stub, first concert to ever sell out at the "NEW" Madison Square Garden, $3 parking. Great times.

And my friends said 'who? Roxy Music?' LOL.
