Romney crashes Democratic convention

http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/washington/washington/entries/2008/08/26/romney_crashes.html

Mitt Romney, the former GOP Massachusetts governor, sneaked into Democrat territory Tuesday night,
making a television appearance from the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Romney, rumored to be a potential running mate for presumptive Republican nominee John McCain, slipped
behind some risers on the second level of the center on his way to the interview, and was surrounded b
television cameras as he made a quick dash out of the center.

“I have a lot of friends here,” he said, brushing off inquiries from reporters about how he was greeted
at the Democratic National Convention.

“Mitt Romney?” exclaimed one delegate when told who was in a private broadcast booth.

“Mitt Romney? What? Has he become a Democrat?”

Another wasn’t so charitable.

“Are we going to beat him up when he comes out?”

Romney left the center without incident.

This is getting absurd!!! Remember the 2004 RNC Convention?
Dems couldn't get near the place without a loyalty oath!

Unfuckingbelievable! :grr:

Take a look at the Republican “war room” operation near the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

----------

The GOP has set up a "war room" a few blocks from the Pepsi Center,

manned by 15 operatives, and their job is to stir the Democratic pot.

3. Look at it another way...
He found the event newsworthy and important enough to show up. That doesn't exactly show much confidence in his party's current position.

6. That and look at the difference outside
For a while, there were people with McCain signs behind the folks on TV.

Can you imagine an Obama sign getting within 5 miles of the GOP convention? They'd be arrested.

7. opportunity missed
I think that Mitt should have been welcomed into the convention and shown that the Democrats don't play those stupid "secret club" games. Our message should be strong enough that we don't care who comes in to hear it. Maybe I'm too idealistic, but the uproar about Romney and some of the comments make us sound just like the idiots we are trying to take our country back from.

8. Karl Rove went in right before him...
My guess is they were going to the Fixed Noise broadcast booth to add their "expert opinions".

then what does that say to any yahoo with a shotgun who wants to take matters into their own hands?
