2. Wow, they managed to find room for him well before prime
time and then sandwiched him between a video honoring dead people and "remarks" by a political unknown. Anyone else get the feeling the Dems don't want America to hear what Dennis has to say? Shameful.

3. Thank God.
I was crossing my fingers it wasn't going to be anywhere near prime time. I breathed a huge sigh of relief.

10. The Corporate Media Would Love To Demonize Him...
They'll take what he says out of context...the portrayal of the space alien with the "hot wife". His message gets broadbrush as "radical" or a rant...the narrative is written and, sadly, his words are used in a negative view, not in proper context.

I expect DK to turn it loose...throw some red meat and maybe get some attention. Unfortunately the corporate media is sure to spin it...they're looking for someone/anyone who will attack their beloved Gramps or the booooosh criminals and then go into their faux shock and "indignation". It's so damn predictable.

18. They're Salivating For The Red Meat...
I just heard Barnacle Mike say the unspoken truth. The convention really isn't a news story...we know who the nominees are and the corporate media is trying to stir up shit to create a sizzle to get viewers with. They are starving for some red meat to be thrown...a shot at Gramps POW status or an attack on the fundies or anything that lets them go into "Clenis" mode. Look at how pissed they were that Obama didn't play their games on the veep pick (and he played them)...they're loaded for bear and be assured that the first person who goes after Gramps will open a feeding frenzy.

Personally, I don't care...I hope Dennis gives em hell...a solid dose of truth...and that others start doing the same. TPM has a great interview with Paul Begala (of all people) who suggests that Democrats need to not attack Gramps as much as put him on the defensive...build up the laundry list of his faults (like the housing flap)...sadly more surface than substance...and force Gramps onto the defense...as we know next week the corporate media will be a non-stop GOOP talking point. Hit 'em with the truth and let the chips fall where they may.

Cheers...

8. OK, OMC. If you believe one of the true progressives
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 10:40 AM by LibDemAlways
in the party should be marginalized this way, you are entitled to your opinion. I'm not going to argue with you. But I will be watching and cheering Dennis on and so will many other DUers who represent the "Democratic wing of the Democratic party."

19. Wow! A Real Democrat Slipped In!
Thank God for this; I will listen and tape this for sure. Finally, some content after all those hours of horrific "heartwarming personal stories" making me furious and bored at the same time, and letting us all know that, yet again, we peasants are completely cut out of the system, with all the rich people and their corporate lobbyist and Republican "friends," too busy to actually address us (as Roosevelt did, for example), and can only be fed pablum that is unrelated to the actual processes of things.

Sickly, content-less, "personal" entertainment crap, ...and one powerful and wonderful moment of glory, when Ted Kennedy returned. I pray you will live for as long as possible.

21. DK is one of the few reasons I'm still a Democrat.

1. US out of Iraq * 12 point plan
Congress must know that it cannot and must not stand by and watch our troops and innocent Iraqi civilians die.

2.Universal Health Care
"Enhanced Medicare for Everyone." It would be publicly financed health care, privately delivered, and will put patients and doctors back in control of the system.

3. Jobs and Withdrawal from NAFTA and WTO
Unless we cancel the WTO and pull out of NAFTA, corporations will continue to move jobs out of the country and produce goods in developing and third-world nations (with great costs to those countries' workers and environment).

4. Repeal the Patriot Act
I voted against the PATRIOT Act. I am working to repeal it.

5. Guaranteed Quality Education, Pre-K Through College
The right of every American child to a high-quality free public education is one of America's most treasured principles. We must improve the quality of public education in those schools that are struggling and expand public education to include pre-kindergarten beginning at age 3 for any families that want it, as well as tuition-free college for millions of students.

6. Full Social Security Benefits at Age 65
My platform is centered upon a non-negotiable commitment to preserve Social Security against all assaults.

7. Right-to-Choose
there are circumstances in which a woman and her doctor should be allowed to make this most difficult decision without government intervention.

8. Balance Between Workers and Corporations
There can be no true corporate accountability unless corporations are accountable to workers. There can be no accountability to workers unless workers' rights are protected.

9. Environmental Renewal and Clean Energy
We must strengthen environmental laws and increase penalties on polluters. We should provide tax and other incentives to businesses that conserve energy, retrofit pollution prevention technologies, and redesign toxins out of their manufacturing processes. Nontoxic, safe substitutes for hazardous chemicals must become permanent.
I would initiate a "Global Green Deal" to use our country's leadership in sustainable energy production to provide jobs at home, increase our independence from foreign oil, and aid developing nations with cheap, dependable, renewable energy technologies like wind and solar.

10. Restored Rural Communities and Family Farms
Shift USDA funding and focus away from the promotion of concentrated intensive and industrial agribusiness. The new focus must benefit family farmers, rural communities, the environment, and consumers, with policies crafted to enable farmers to earn a fair price and to provide safe, nutritious food to all people.

Will the Party allow him to explain the difference between Mandatory Health Insurance and Single Payer Universal HealthCare?

”Unlike other candidates, I am not funded by those corporate interests.
I owe them no loyalty, and they have no influence over me or my policies.”
---Dennis Kucinich

I feel like we are being tossed a crumb.
At least that is an improvement.
It is especially irritating that a loud Centrist faction is complaining about their voices not being heard.
