My two cents on McCain
I am no pundit. My words are those of a simple working man, hell I am not even that well informed, But the thought of McCain being president scares the crap out of me.

He was a POW. There is a lot of people out there who think of him as a hero because of this. My personal opinion is that putting too much stock in that is a mistake. Simply living through such a thing is a notable accomplishment. But I cannot see where it is in any way an experience that applies to leading a nation.

I realized the other day that the only poor people he has ever been around for any length of time had him in a cell and beat him everyday. I am sure that to him the accusations of his captors sounds a lot like the criticism of the rich by the poor and where he should feel sympathy he instead feels rage.

He has shown time and again that he has no idea what a working person goes through. He has never had a real job in his life. Everything he owns was either given to him or acquired through marriage. Aside from his numerous health problems and being taken prisoner he has not known a single bit of hardship in his life.

This man has always lived in the lap of luxury and it shows for all the world to see. He handles frustration the same way any spoiled person does, He throws a tantrum. This bully attitude will be directed at our friends and enemies alike but especially at our own citizens.

An effective president needs to be able to handle some pretty harsh criticism with class and dignity Senator McCain shows neither. Everyone around him has had to take his angry outbursts on an almost daily basis. There is no diplomacy in him. He shoves where a gentle nudge would suffice. He would start wars all over the world simply because he has no idea when to just keep his mouth shut. How would he fight such wars once started? More bombs. More men. Much more money. That's right, rather than a real strategy he would simply throw money (and lives) at it. He was POW, not a general.

How is a man with a severe distaste for domestic spending going to solve any domestic problem? How is anything going to be fixed with a president who looks on the poor of our nation with open contempt. How will a man who defends globalization as a fact of life defend a single American job? How can a man who buys houses for cash have a clue what it is like to have a mortgage and no money? Every time this man opens his mouth a silver spoon is clearly visible in his every word.

There are millions of people in this country who are prisoners of a system that tortures them with worry everyday and yet our voice counts for nothing with him. With him our collective hardships hold no weight when he makes a decision, why should his hardship have any bearing on ours when we go to the polls?

1. I credit our fine media for equating POW with leadership qualities
They also seem to equate religiosity with expertise in public matters.

2. angrycarpenter he is a man that would eat cake while
fellow Americans drowned in an American city. They were not of his ilk so his disdain and mockery of them lay for the world to see while he celebrated his birthday with *.

7. My local rag doesn't even have an editorial page.
It usually has about two thin sections and never has serious news. We are a small tourist town and the paper might as well be printed by the chamber of commerce.

I would be honored if anyone were to send this to their own local paper and it got printed. My local paper is a worthless fish wrapper.

8. McCain treated wifes of missing POW's very badly! It's on Tape!
Anyone who has not seen this should do so ASAP! Dems should put the video on national TV. McCain is a disgrace to the human race. Votes against Vets and troops also.

9. I try to keep to a single subject when I write
Fidelity is one for another thread. My dearest hope is that someone will like what I have written and send it to their GOP friends or better yet to someone sitting on the fence. My own RW brother blocked all Email from me over stuff like this.

10. "shoves where a gentle nudge would suffice"
This is what happens when a person cannot control their temper.

Thank you, great post.

11. Oh, and don't forget Admiral McCombover's racism ...
...it blinded him from the man who rescued him ...

Perhaps McCain's blind racism caused him to remember his rescue differently than how it happened?

12. I was not aware of this episode
This little Vietnamese man stood up for a man he did not know and had every reason to hold a grudge against. Truly a courageous and good man. For McCain to be so cold towards him confirms my point. He has no use for anyone who is not a billionaire.
