What the hell is going on with this "surge" ?
Edited on Sat Mar-10-07 04:22 PM by blues90
Perhaps I've missed something lately . Suddenly the Iraq madness have vanished from the news as well as Sy Hersh and even Walter Reed .

I hear bits of the Libby trial which has taken front seat to all else .

I am not a conspiracy nut but does this seem a bit odd to anyone else ?

I know news a day old is old news but all of these issues are important to me .

I can't find jack on the internet now about any of the above that is resent other than Libby .

Are we being lead into the memory hole by some grand design ?

It is difficult to know what to believe anymore .

If you want to find out about Coulter , well there are tons of useless crap out there , this is something I could care less about than the life cycle of a dung beetle .

3. Hwy, but there's PLENTY of news about "American Idol." Be satisfied with that, and
go on about your business, would you? Nothing to see here.

10.  It is a shame .
I don't even know if shame covers it . You almost have to invent a new word to describe how issues get lost or become fogged .

Here I don't even talk politics one on one with anyone other than my wife or if I call into a liberal radio show .

It seems we will hear more when something bad happens in Iran .

I can't imagine what bush is doing in south america right now other than to distract people and for photo op's . What ever it is it certainly can't be for the benefit of south america .

Most of these issues are not only alarming but equally depressing . I feel like I have fallen into a deep well miles from anywhere and there is no way out and the shout for help cannot be heard .

4. "Surge" equalled fancy phrase for more troops, money,

equipment to be used up in the sand. Let's face it, * got what he wanted and the mess continues. Have to wonder how the next "request" will be grandly titled.

When I go on to icasualties.org. Its like the war has stopped. Very few bombings assisnations or terrorist arrests are occuring. It just seems too quiet. Many think the terrorists are watching and waiting.

8. The whole point of "surge" was to increase rather than decrease the amount of troops.
The number was arbitrary and there was no real goal other than this. Bush and his people knew that if any significant drawdown of troops began, it would acquire an irresistible political momentum since the country wants this over.

He couldn't have that, wanted to make sure the war continues into the next presidency. He'll probably get his wish.

9. As Jon Stewart Said,
it's only a 15% increase -- that's not even a good tip. Now Johnson's escalation was serious -- it kicked the war into a much higher gear.

I don't think the surge will have an appreciable effect. The only exception might be the new offensive inside Baghdad. Haven't heard much about that after the first few days -- I expect that it didn't change things either and that will just perpetuate the status quo.
