ABB - Anyone but Biden
to slick and greasy, to entrenched in the corrupt machine; too old. but I guess it should go to whoever is cleanest. Thank god John Edwards has finally immolated his fraudulent waste of everyone's time and attention.

18. Biden's ok
I don't know that he'll help that much. I'd prefer Warner or Sherrod Brown, each of whom can probably deliver an important state. I'd have trouble voting for Bayh. He was a ringleader in that vote to blockade Iran, which is an act of war. I can't vote for someone with that kind of bad judgment.

3. Still, he did author the VAWA, probably to atone
for his swinish behavior to Anita Hill nearly a decade earlier.

Plus, he's a fighter.

If it's him, it could be a whole lot worse.

After all, Bayh is out.

4. I don't want it to be Senator Biden either
He brings nothing to the ticket, and I just don't like him that much really.

However, I'll go with whoever Senator Obama chooses, and if it's Senator Biden, then I'll just have to accept that, not that I'll be happy, but that will be our ticket.

If it's not Senator Bayh, I'd like Senator Obama to choose Governor Bill Richardson.

An Obama/Richardson ticket would be pretty good.

10. I'm sorry to say (sincerely) that
the news agencies reported that Richardson, Bayh and Kaine have been told by Obama that they are not going to be his running mate.

And I'm sorry for those of you who were hoping.

That doesn't mean it's Biden, though -- It's only the media that has been singing that song. Nothing has come from the Obama camp so it really could be anyone.

13. I thought Governor Richardson was still in the running and it was
Senator Bayh and Governor Kaine who'd been told they were out of the running.

I just read on another thread that Governor Richardson was still in.

I wish Senator Obama would just hurry the fuck up, because the suspense is killing....tons of people *sigh*

a local news show.

But with everything -- who knows? We won't know until Obama has the VP on stage and we see who ISN'T there.

how does Biden help?
Not a war hero.
Not from a red state.
Not any change agent.

I just don't understand this party.
Very concerning.

Doesn't anyone remember that we lost each of the last two elections by ONE red state?
EVERYTHING must be done to pull in that last red state.
How in the world would another NE LIBERAL help.

Oy. He better kick some Romney ass in that debate.

15. How is Senator Biden stronger than Governor Bill Richardson?
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 08:35 PM by ...of J.Temperance
Senator Biden only has Senatorial experience.

Governor Richardson, has Executive experience as a Governor, Legislative experience as a Congressman and he was also United States Ambassador to the UN, so Richardson has Ambassador experience as well.

So HOW is Senator Biden STRONGER than Governor Richardson?

On Edit: Dammit spelling error

Obama needs someone with strong international street cred. Unfortunately, he also needs to be white and male.

Richardson is an excellent fellow however.

27. I'm worried
About how....well, there had better NOT be ANY skeletons, including girlfriends past OR present with Senator Biden.

I don't know, when I see him, I just get the impression that he might be hiding something.

I thought Senator John Edwards was whiter than white and he was my candidate in 2004 and early on in this 2008 race, and then look what happened.

I TRUST Governor Bill Richardson, I can't say that I TRUST Senator Biden, because there's something about him to me that doesn't say he's totally clean.

29. Edwards was my candidate initially, too and he disappointed me
Biden has a lot of stuff in his background but he has also been tried in the public arena for many, many years. If there was an actual problem, it would have come to light a long time ago. Edwards' problem was always there, he just hadn't been an idiot in a long time. Sadly, that changed.

I just hope that Senator Biden doesn't have any skeletons that have lay dormant, because the GOP and their helpers in the media will be like dogs on a hunt....then again they're going to do that with whoever the Veep nominee is.

It's getting to the point now, that even if we ran Jesus Christ himself, those little fuckers would find SOMETHING to slur him with.

35. Richardson is effectively perceived as white
doesn't matter if he is latino, you look at him and see a white person, not a latino. SO that a double dip - Latinos will know he's latino, but whites who need to will feel the comfort of a white guy.

I absolutely love Richardson - he is also portly which a lot of people can relate to. He is not shiny and slick like Biden he comes off as real human and regular like you and me.

43. I'm afraid not
Ethnology is my bailiwick. Racial perceptions are made by 1) skin color, 2) speech patterns and 3) features.

Richardson is perceived as Latino. Here's where people start grouping up and attacking the messenger. I like
Richardson. I'd love to see a two-minority ticket or a female VP but the important thing is the letter after
their name in the age in which we live.

14. It doesn't matter...
...and hasn't mattered since 1960, the last time a VP pick made an actual difference.

It wasn't the Eagleton fiasco that cooked McGovern's goose. Quayle didn't cost Bush père the election.

Biden would be a perfectly serviceable stand-in, if the unthinkable happens. Besides that, you are looking to tie up a few more news cycles and have someone to campaign in small markets and safe states.

There are fifty people who'd do the job, who'd make a fine VP.

Relax.

30. I'm going with HillaryClinton
There are things I don't like about her. But she's a proven campaigner, has been vetted, can connect with women, would solve whatever exists of the divide bewteen Obama and Clintons. She's the obvious choice.

Also, looking at the states as broken down by Rasmussen, I think she will firm up some of the leaners. Obama can win without Florida and Ohio if he gets the critical leaners. Hillary might be able to help there.
