Al Gore gets a coveted speaking role at Democratic convention
One of the most coveted speaking slots of the Democratic National Convention will go to former Vice President Al Gore. He is scheduled to appear on the final night of the convention as Senator Barack Obama prepares to accept his party's nomination.

Associates of Gore would not confirm the schedule, referring calls to the Obama campaign. Aides to Obama said the former vice president's role at the convention would be announced in the coming days.

Although Obama will be the main attraction when convention delegates and thousands more pack Invesco Field in Denver - a larger venue chosen especially for Obama's acceptance speech - Gore's time in the spotlight will be significant too.

The former vice president, whose work as an evangelist for environmental issues has earned him both a Nobel Prize and an Oscar for the film "An Inconvenient Truth," is arguably getting a more prominent perch at the convention than the president he once served, Bill Clinton, or Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

3. I think the Clintons should get more prominent placement--as soon as
either of them gets a Nobel Prize, an Oscar, and maybe an Order of the Garter.

5. Now if they can get the Dixie Chicks to be the warm up band.
That would perfect symmetry.
