Biden headed to Georgia
Posted: 05:34 PM ET
From CNN’s Steve Brusk

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Sen. Joe Biden, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and thought by some to be on presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama’s short list for vice president, is headed to Georgia Saturday night, Biden’s spokeswoman said.

“At the request of Georgian President (Mikheil) Saakashvili, Chairman Biden is heading to Georgia this weekend,” said spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander. “He is leaving this evening and will be there Sunday.”

No other senators are traveling with Biden. His office said in a statement he will meet with Saakashvili, Georgian Prime Minister Lado Gurgenidze and John Tefft, U.S. ambassador to Georgia. Biden will also meet with residents who fled the fighting that has broken out this week between Russia and Georgia, the statement said.

1. Since Biden is the Foreign Relations Committee chairman
that makes way more sense than McCain sending his proxies who have no foreign policy experience.

2. Agreed
But where is Condi et al in this? It's good that he is going over, but shouldn't somebody from the administration be going too?
