http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=eng

Area: Canada, Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, , Gambo

Description:

The Town of Gambo has again called a state of emergency. The heavy rain downpours from earlier today have caused a build-up of water on the Trans Canada highway above the town, threatening houses below. The Department of Transportation and Works and Fire and Emergency Services Newfoundland and Labrador are advising drivers in the central region of the province that the Trans Canada Highway between Gander and Gambo has been closed until further notice. An extensive rainfall in the region has caused flooding in the Joey's Lookout area, and is threatening houses below. Mayor Lloyd Noseworthy says are afraid the flooding will cause a shifting of earth and they have evacuated about 12 homes in the area of Sheila's Restaurant. A state of emergency has been declared in the Gambo area. The main road through the Town of Gambo has also been closed as a precautionary measure. Approximately 12 homes in the vicinity of Sheila's Restaurant, approximately 300 feet to the left and right and extending to the water, have been evacuated. Anyone needing emergency shelter can got to the fire hall in the community. Motorists are advised stay off the roads in the area and should contact their local fire department if emergency assistance is needed.
