Report on the Wal-Mart union "threat"--this is getting ridiculous
My local liberal radio station (part Air America, part Jones Network) is, unfortunately, saddled with CNN Radio News. Not exactly a match made in heaven. But my head just about exploded these past few days, listening to the Wall Street Journal Business Desk report.

Last Friday, they had a one-line blurb about the Wal-Mart union thing. Of COURSE the only thing they said was "Wal-Mart warns that if unions come to the store, it will mean less money in workers' paychecks and higher prices"--absolutely nothing else--no explanation of that statement, no opposing viewpoint. It really annoyed me.

Then I heard it again, on Monday. Same report. Nope, wasn't a mistake, because the other business news was up to date.

Then I heard it AGAIN, TODAY! Enough already! :grr: It's like indoctrination--they just keep saying it over and over again, the exact same way, without adding to it or explaining it any further. I mean, I know that radio news reports have to be brief, but this one just registers as a :wtf: especially because it's the ONLY business report that's been repeated for several days.

Trying to find an e-mail address to write to...failing so far... :grr: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

7. When did unions become evil, is what I want to know
Understanding labor relations has never been my strong suit, but I distinctly remember my social studies lessons from 8th grade, when we studied the Industrial Age and the Depression. Back then, I learned that unions helped abolish child labor, abuse of workers, and slave wages. And people (regular workers) now view unions as against their interests because they believe they're all controlled by the Mob? Is that correct?

8. Most of my fellow union members see them as our bargaining agent
the real ignorance comes from the non-union workers because they have had that horse crap fed to them a long time.
The Chamber of Commerce spends millions every year to misinform people.
Corporation have their people in office like the Dept. of Labor so there is no such thing as a fair fight anymore.

9. A cousin of mine (now departed, sadly) was a union rep
As is a good friend of mine. Both hardworking folks who loved/love their jobs, neither one had/has an immoral or greedy or incorrect bone in his or her body. Nobody will ever be able to convince me that unions are not necessary. I'm boggled that some ignoramuses buy that garbage.

12. the reason they think unions are crime related has something to do
with the families using union money to build Las Vegas. This new affront on them has to do more with paying a living wage, health care, a set schedule of hours that if it exceeds 40, there's overtime. Of course the people that make 300 to 400 times their employees wage don't want anything to do with that. That's the reason these friedmenites want an unfettered market and unchained capitalism, can't have any silly benefits for the working man, it interferes with the golf game.

The words you heard on cnn are just more propoganda and brainwashing, in 10 years our kids won't even know what a union was, they won't hear about them in school that's for sure. Peace
