Another Christian outreach group . Do they know Fred?
7 Christian bikers arrested in Orange County raid
The leader and members of the Set Free Soldiers are accused of attempted murder in a Newport Beach brawl with the Hells Angels, three of whom are also in custody.

Long controversial for its aggressive evangelism aimed at those with a troubled past -- ex-convicts and drug addicts among them -- the Anaheim-based Christian motorcycle gang known as the Set Free Soldiers found itself in deeper trouble Wednesday when its leader and half a dozen members were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The arrests, which followed a double stabbing in a brawl with the Hells Angels at a Newport Beach bar July 27, was the latest brush with the law for the group of black-leather-clad bikers, which has straddled the line between Christian outreach group and outlaw motorcycle gang.

<snip>
Police said that through its ministry, the gang recruited people discharged from parole, state prison and county jails and has an outreach program for convicted felons.

Although Set Free has been praised for its streetwise approach, its detractors say it is an autocratic organization that exerts too much control over its members by confiscating their belongings and forcing them to break off relationships with friends and families.

The theological implications of this fight are staggering. O8)

5. That's not fair....people can and DO change, and the legitimate Christian bikers provide a valuable
outreach. Ex-cons, recovering addicts (to whatever) have to cut themselves off from former associates and find a new place in society if they are going to stick with a recovery program. What group do you think would appeal to someone coming out of prison? In the article, one woman credits this group for helping her to stay sober for the past 86 days.

May you never have a family member who suffers addiction or commits a felony: "For possession of any amount over one kilogram, the crime is a felony, punishable by 1 - 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000."

I tried to point out the fact that Churches are full of these "born again" individuals that later in life try to shove religion down others throats just because religion worked for them. I know many people who broke out of addictions on their own out of concern for a loved one (usually wanting to be a good example for their kids) and didn't need but the willingness to better themselves. Others need another type of drug such as religion.

14. Not talking about churches - talking about Christian bikers who most likely discovered their higher
power OUTSIDE an organized religion or four walls. The recovering addicts I know credit their recovery on the "Higher Power" they have found in a 12-step recovery program, and you won't find a nicer, more genuine or more caring group of people anywhere. Churches could learn from them. The recovering addicts exhibit and live the behaviors that JC tried to teach the world, IMO.

3. Jesus was one bad-ass mofo.
:eyes:

Here's a small group ministry I should try at my church. All the Christianity with none of the self-discipline. Just what Luke the physician ordered!

6. So, if they're the opposite of the "Hell's Angels", that would make them "Heaven's Assholes", right?
Okay, I guess "Heaven's Demons" would be better, but there's already a group called "Satan's Slaves"...

Outlaw bikers for Jesus; what a concept. They must have NO sense of restraint at all.
