Robert Novak is a lying scumbag .............................
In his latest hogwash column he says this:

"In fact, her being classified -- that is, that her work was a government secret -- did not in itself meet the standard required for prosecution of the leaker (former Deputy Secretary of State Armitage) under the Intelligence Identities Protection Act of 1982. That statute limits prosecution to exposers of covert intelligence activities overseas, whose revelation would undermine U.S. intelligence. That is why Fitzgerald did not move against Armitage."

Absolutely ridiculous.

Patrick Fitzgerald himself said that Plame had indeed done "covert work overseas" on counterproliferation matters in the past five years, and the CIA "was making specific efforts to conceal" her identity, according to released portions of a judge's opinion.

Patrick Fitzgerald also found no evidence that Armitage knew of Plame's covert CIA status when he talked to Novak and Woodward. The law requires that the "leaker" know in advance that the CIA operative's status is classified.

1. Yes, he is.
I trust nothing that tumbles out of that man's mouth of his word processor. He's a vile man. I remember once on Crossfire, he defended rape. Said it was ok. What a disgusting man he is. :eyes:

3. He can sure dish is out, but he is a complete coward when
people challenge him.

In fact, he's prone to lose his cool, swear and walk off the set during live television interviews when he can't take the heat.

Poor widdle baby.

4. He is not exactly objective on this story.... given that he carried the original
water on being the first to comply with the desire to get 'the word out in the press' ala cheneylibby. Of course he would say this - as he tries to justify his own actions in blowing up a serious intelligence network putting national security at risk. He is venal.

5. For his own good, Bob Novak would do well not to comment on this particular subject.
He's not out of the woods yet. Don't tempt fate, and don't tempt Patrick Fitzgerald.

6. The GOP has been using this as a talking point since the whole thing started
They keep claiming that Plame was no longer a covert agent, that her identity as a CIA operative was already known at the time. They keep pointing to the fact that nobody has been charged with a crime as their "proof" that no crime was committed.

They oh-so-conveniently overlook the fact that the prosecutor was INVESTIGATING whether a crime took place, and it was during this investigation that Libby Scooter lied his ass off.

7. Robert Novak
lacks the moral capacity to recognize the truth, much less tell it.
