She wasn’t even twenty yet, when the U.S. Department of Defense claimed that Private LaVena Lynn Johnson had killed herself on July 19, 2005. Her suicide was filled with rage, horror, and desperation, as she broke her nose, mutilated her body, and then shot herself in the head after setting her body on fire. She would be another casualty of the Iraq war. But was it suicide or murder?
Eventually the Army released a CD-ROM contained in LaVena’s military file, after pressure from congressman and the Johnson family. They had to view for themselves the gruesome details of her death with horrific photographs from her autopsy. It proved that the original black and white photos sent to them shortly after LaVena’s “suicide” had been altered.
The sketches on the disk became damning evidence against the U.S. Army when the CD-ROM crime scene contradicted the Army’s statements.
The truth of the matter is that Private LaVena Johnson didn’t die by her own hand.
She was raped, beaten, and murdered by someone on a military base in Balad, Iraq.
I guess Lavena’s mother Linda Johnson couldn’t have described it any better. ‘The members of the military responsible for this cover-up are lying-demons”.
Thus far there has been no resolution to this cover up, with the military not being forthright about precisely how Private LaVena Johnson died back in July of 2005.
The perpetrators of this heinous crime need to be held accountable.
