"Slavery Gets Shit Done" kid gets hard time with the nuns at college!
Republican U. S. Senate candidate in Colorado Bob Schaffer suddenly finds that Jack Abramoff isn't his only problematic close associate! Now his son is being dragged before the nuns at his college for being a blatant, liberal-hating racist wahoo.

Bob Schaffer's Son May Face Discipline At School For Racist Facebook Page
Andrew Tilghman - August 6, 2008 - http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/08/bob_schaffers_son_may_face_dis.php

Looks like its not only Colorado Senate Candidate Bob Schaffer (R) whose troubled by his son's Facebook page.

From the Dayton Daily News:

University of Dayton officials said Tuesday, Aug. 5, they are considering charging student Justin Schaffer for a violation of the Standards of Behavior for posting offensive information on his Facebook page.

The 19-year-old son of Republican Senate candidate Bob Schaffer of Colorado on Monday apologized for an entry that had the words "High Five ... Who's Gay" over a photo of a waving Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. It also had a picture of the Pyramids with the words "Slavery Gets (expletive) Done."

UD said the Code of Conduct standard calls for students to respect all members of the community and the community at large.

Sister Annette Schmeling, vice president of student development and dean of students, said she will have an initial conversation with Schaffer about the postings and "explore the ways his Facebook page is not showing respect."

Bob Schaffer's Son Apologizes For Obnoxious Facebook Page
By Andrew Tilghman and Kate Klonick - August 5, 2008 - http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/08/bob_schaffers_son_apologizes_f_1.php

The son of Colorado GOP Senate candidate Bob Schaffer is causing his dad a little embarrassment on the campaign trail this week.

Nineteen-year-old Justin Schaffer publicly apologized for putting up posters on his Facebook page including one declaring "Slavery Gets Shit Done."

Also among the Facebook page additions are some that mock Barack Obama, painting him as Muslim, an elitist, a homosexual, terrorist and comparing the presumptive Democratic candidate for president to the cereal-box character "Count Chocula."

PS. Wahoo is Lakota for little bush!

1. Why can't all schools be this proactive?
Leave it to the Catholics to teach a little common courtesy to the students.

2. they should get forced hard labor just for being stupid.
I mean, slavery gets shit done.

Even better, make them wear rainbow colored jumpsuits on the roadside pickup crew instead of plain orange so that they can personally experience being mocked for being "gay" by complete strangers, day in and day out.

7. GLBT issues
Categorically wouldn't vote for a candidate who would vote against recognizing my family legally.

Fortunately, that mostly means any republican!

It is a standard more than a hard and fast rule, however as an example in a local election I would not blindly vote for the democrat if his or her stance was anti-gay, and I WOULD vote for the opponent regardless of party affiliation if their stance was progressive.

The tag line came out of the primary battles here with people saying things like equal rights are a trivial issue compared to the war, the economy, gas prices, etc.

So, standards are important if one believes one's participation in the political process has merit and that the exercise of your vote should never be exercised against you.

12. Thanks, I'll support you. I wish all would support the Dem party platform that says,
We support full inclusion of gay and lesbian families in the life of our nation and seek equal responsibilities, benefits, and protections for these families. In our country, marriage has been defined at the state level for 200 years, and we believe it should continue to be defined there. We repudiate President Bush's divisive effort to politicize the Constitution by pursuing a "Federal Marriage Amendment." Our goal is to bring Americans together, not drive them apart.

I have a feeling this election is going to take all of us pulling together for all of us so I'm willing to shoulder the rope and pull too, actually for all the issues we face. ;)

5. In fact, the pyramids were NOT built using slave labor
There is a large body of evidence that the pyramid builders were skilled craftsmen, trained professionals and well paid laborers. As much as it no doubt pains the Republickers and their over-priviledged, ignorant spawn to admit it, good pay and decent working conditions get a lot more done, and faster.

10. The Pyramids were built for much the same reason and
as you say in the same way as were the European cathedrals - religious motivation, community pride.
