Golden retriever adopts 3 tiger cubs at Kan. zoo

:loveya:

CANEY, Kan. (AP) — Oh, my! Three tiger cubs at a Kansas zoo are getting some maternal care from an unlikely source — Isabella the golden retriever.

The tiger cubs were born Sunday at Safari Zoological Park but their mother soon stopped caring for them. Isabella had just weaned her own puppies and was able to step in.

Zoo owner Tom Harvey says, "The timing couldn't have been any better."

He says it's unusual for dogs to care for tiger cubs, but it does happen. Isabella licks, cleans and feeds the cubs just like her own puppies.

Safari Zoological Park specializes in endangered species. It has leopards, lions, baboons, ring-tailed lemurs, bears and other animals.

1. See, its not always about survival of the fitest..
Its more often about love, compassion, and dignity...

12. "survival of the fittest" is an economic term. "natural selection" is what is used in Biology. nt

I believe its mentioned Revelations.

And

"The Lamb Shall lie down with the Lion"

23. The Peaceable Kingdom
I love that painting so much that after I saw the original, I bought a huge print of it and had it framed. It hangs in my kitchen.

And, btw, I'm an atheist. I think some stoner wrote Revelations.

4. I too was thinking along those lines.....
An alternative headline could read - "Three tiger cubs adopted by future tasty meal."

5. the cat below was found with his brother abandoned at age 1 week..
my wife (who works for a vet) did the bottle-feed 6 or 8 times a day, got them going, eyes opening...the cats came through...

from day one, they thought the dog was their mother...they never had any other animal sniffing and licking and tickling them...i didn't count, apparently (the tickling part)...

the dog (a pretty boy, but not too bright) was never sure exactly what to make of the cats...but he protects them and plays with them when he gets motivated...the cats pretty much do whatever they want to him...

the bond is not a 'species thing'....you can tell it is a 'love thing'...

19. LENO just said (acerbic, not sweet)...
"A golden retriever?!1 Come ON!1 What kind of lame ass zoo has a golden retriever?!1 What do people say, 'Let's go see the collie collection next!1' "

Hope I'm not spoiling the mood. I had refrained from my own post (until now): It was going to be, one cub says to the other, "If you think 'Mommy' tastes good NOW, just wait till we get big!1"

Sorry. The sweetness of the o.p. content matches the sweetness of the o. poster!1
