PASADENA, Texas -- A Boy Scout leader and Sunday school teacher has been arrested on child pornography charges, KPRC Local 2 reported Monday.

The Pasadena Independent School District and and La Porte police departments said 37-year-old Bennie Richardson had more than 600 videos and hundreds of pictures of child pornography on his home computer when a search warrant was executed.

"He had a lot of what we call hardcore child pornography of children being raped from ages 2 to teenagers," said Detective Matthew Gray with the Pasadena ISD Police Department.
Gray said police seized two computers from Richardson's home after a task force traced him to downloading and distributing by sharing his files with other people.

Richardson was calm when he was served with a search warrant, investigators said.

"He knew why we were there," Gray said. "He knew he was in trouble."

Police said what shocked them most was Richardson's response to why he had the pornography.

"He said, 'Watching child pornography relaxes me,'" Gray said. "You know, I find that very disturbing when the videos show children crying while they are being raped and forced to perform sexual acts. That's just sick."

17. Guys like this are why either my husband or I try to be present at whatever activities

our boys go to. I'm a little worried, though, because next year the one going into 5th grade will be playing school sports and we won't be there for the practices and such. I'll just have to remind him about stranger (and not-stranger) danger.
