Subject : FOX received your message!

Date : Thu, Jul 24, 2008 11:12 PM

Dear MoveOn member,

Big news!

Your petition signature telling FOX to stop their racist smears against the Obamas

had a really exciting day on Wednesday. Here's what happened:

1:00 p.m. Your signature was printed off at a New York City Kinko's along with 620,126 others—filling 19 big boxes.

2:00 p.m. The signatures were piled in front of FOX's national headquarters at 6th Avenue and 48th Street.

3:15 p.m. Hip hop star Nas (whose new album had just risen to #1 on the Billboard charts hours earlier) joined
over 100 activists and delivered the petitions to FOX on behalf of ColorOfChange, MoveOn, and Brave New Films.

3:30 p.m. FOX refused to accept the petitions. (Sometimes, the truth hurts.)

4:00 p.m.— 9:00 p.m. News of FOX's racism and the star-studded petition delivery made its way around the world
—with stories in Rolling Stone, Billboard, USA Today, Associated Press, Reuters, India Express, Huffington Post, MTV, OpenLeft, and over 200 other places.

11:30 p.m. Stephen Colbert welcomed Nas as his guest on the Colbert Report and dedicated over half of his show
to FOX's racism. The boxes containing our signatures were stacked prominently on Colbert's set in place of his
normal interview table and chairs—and he conducted the entire interview surrounded by petitions!
Then, Nas performed his new song "Sly Fox," which is all about FOX's racism.

12:00 a.m. Several MoveOn staffers, jaws dropped open, get on the phone and engage in several rounds of, "Wow!" :)

Since then, the news has kept spreading around the world.

You sent a message to FOX, and that message was very much received!

And the fight's not over.

We'll continue to push back together against FOX's racism and their smears against Obama.

But for now, enjoy the video of Wednesday's petition delivery—

led by our friends at ColorOfChange—and the video of Colbert.

Both videos are at this link:

http://www.moveon.org/r?r=3980&id=13325-9167649-lHbgNjx&t=4

Thanks for all you do.

–Adam G., Laura, Ilyse, Justin, and the rest of the team

P.S. You can listen to Nas's new single "Sly Fox" on the Colbert video at the link above.

If you like it and want to buy the full album, it's available here: http://www.moveon.org/r?r=3979&id=13325-9167649-lHbgNjx&t=6

50. I watched Nas on Colbert last night...
He claimed Fox "monopolized" the media (really).

What ever happened to "changing the channel" if you don't like what's on?

Fox News is crap and will rot your brain, but no one has the right to force them to shut down.

And to say they're a monopoly defies reality.

Damn right I'd love to see them shut down, but I'd settle for them being made to stop the racist bullshit and stop calling them "news."

I was just pointing out that it was obviously expensive to print because I had just come from Kinkos. They everybody starts in at me. MoveOn and whomever should do whatever they feel is appropriate with the money they raise.

Personally I think they should have used empty boxes for their demonstration and just put a disk in it for Faux to print out. Would have saved them money and trees. Especially since I am sure they knew Faux wouldn't accept them. Just my opinion and again I don't care either way. I just hope the stunt was effective.

Watch what you watchin'
Fox keeps feeding us toxins
Stop sleeping
Start thinking
Outside of the box and
Unplug from The Matrix doctrine
But watch what you say Fox 5 is watchin'

The Fear Factor got you all rattled up
O' Reilly
Oh really?
No rally needed
I'll tie you up
Network for child predators, settin' 'em up
Myspace pimps, hoes, and sluts
Ya'll exploit rap culture, then ya'll flip on us
And you own the post, and ya'll shit on us
What is they net worth?
They gon' try to censor my next verse?
Throw 'em off the roof neck first
While I'm clicking my cursor
Reading blogs about the pressure they put on Universal
It gets worse while I'm clicking my mouse
While they kickin' my house
They figured us out
Why a nigga go south
It's either he caught a body, no sleep they watchin'!
I watch CBS
And I See B.S.!
Tryin' to track us down with GPS
Make a nigga wanna invest in PBS

Watch what you watchin'
Fox keeps feeding us toxins
Stop sleeping
Start thinking
Outside of the box and
Unplug from The Matrix doctrine
But watch what you say Big Brother is watchin'

Watch what you watchin'
Fox keeps feeding us toxins
Stop sleeping
Start thinking
Outside of the box and
Unplug from The Matrix doctrine
But watch what you say Fox 5 is watchin'

They say I'm all about murder-murder and kill-kill
But what about Grindhouse and Kill Bill?
What about Cheney and Halliburton? (Halliburton?)
The backdoor deals
On oil fields
How's NaS the most violent person?
Ya'll don't know talent if it hit you
Bringin' up my criminal possession charges with a pistol (pistol)
I use Viacom
As my firearm
And let the lyrics split you
Who do you rely upon?
They shoot shells at Leviathan
I'm dealing with the higher form
F**k if you care how I write a poem?
Only Fox that I love was the red one
Only black man that Fox loves is in jail or a dead one!
Red rum
Political bedlam
Don't let the hype into your eyes and ear drum
Murdoch on Fox
Not 18 with Barracas
And he hate Barack cause
He march with the marchers

I pledge allegiance to the fair and balanced truth.
Not the biased truth
Not the liar's truth
But the highest truth
I will not be deceived
nor will I believe
In the Propaganda
I will not fall for the Okey-Doke
I am tuned-in

Watch, cause they're watching
Watch what you're watching

Better watch, cause they're watching
Watch what you're watching

Me-Me-Media
Misleading ya

Watch what you're watching

34. this particular one started with O'Loofah condemning Virgina Tech for inviting Nas to perform
but a few years ago O'loofah also went after Pepsi for hiring Ludcris and then Pepsi caved and released him.

 I mean, that would be my guess.

You could probably go to Color of Change and I'll bet they have a lot about it!

Use a search engine for the links to their websites.

77. I always felt that when I first signed on to "MoveOn" that I finally was
part of a voice. It's hard to be heard by ourselves but this just goes to prove that as a group our voice can be heard!!!! It makes me feel like we are part of a process and not just being stomped on all the time. Thank-You MoveOn, ColorOfChange and Brave New films (another favorite of mine!!!) and Colbert for putting this on his show.

Your signature had fun on Wednesday
Date:
July 24, 2008 11:05:30 PM EDT

You signed a petition to FOX. They received the message!

Dear MoveOn member,
Big news! Your petition signature telling FOX to stop their racist smears against the Obamas had a really exciting day on Wednesday. Here's what happened:

1:00 p.m. Your signature was printed off at a New York City Kinko's along with 620,126 others—filling 19 big boxes.
2:00 p.m. The signatures were piled in front of FOX's national headquarters at 6th Avenue and 48th Street.

3:15 p.m. Hip hop star Nas (whose new album had just risen to #1 on the Billboard charts hours earlier) joined over 100 activists and delivered the petitions to FOX on behalf of ColorOfChange, MoveOn, and Brave New Films.

3:30 p.m. FOX refused to accept the petitions. (Sometimes, the truth hurts.)

4:00 p.m.—9:00 p.m. News of FOX's racism and the star-studded petition delivery made its way around the world—with stories in Rolling Stone, Billboard, USA Today, Associated Press, Reuters, India Express, Huffington Post, MTV, OpenLeft, and over 200 other places.

11:30 p.m. Stephen Colbert welcomed Nas as his guest on the Colbert Report and dedicated over half of his show to FOX's racism. The boxes containing our signatures were stacked prominently on Colbert's set in place of his normal interview table and chairs—and he conducted the entire interview surrounded by petitions!

But for now, enjoy the video of Wednesday's petition delivery—led by our friends at ColorOfChange—and the video of Colbert. Both videos are at this link:

http://www.moveon.org/r?r=3980&id=13325-9397620-.7.vqSx&t=4

Thanks for all you do.
