Political Compass numbers check-in
Edited on Sat Jul-19-08 06:52 PM by GreenPartyVoter
I haven't taken it in a long while. Some new questions there.

I am just as left but now also more southernly located as well at:
Economic Left/Right: -9.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.44

1. In the immediate neighborhood of the Dali Lama.
Not bad company to keep. :)

3. Here are my numbers
Economic Left/Right: -7.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.49

It's really sad to see all of the "major" Democratic candidates are in Quadrant 1. I'm not surprised to be occupying the same quadrant as Nader and Kucinich. They have always been my favorite candidates.

5. Same here about that quadrant stuff. I'd love to see what world leaders also land there

4. Here are mine:
Economic Left/Right: -7.50
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92

It goes without saying, that I'm "proud" of those numbers (although they most certainly were NOT "career enhancers"). But in my opinion, ALL values are part of the normal variance of the human race. Variance is a necessary feature to survival of humanity, so any attempt to delegitimize/criminalize any of the other quadrants should be resisted.

6. I understand what you are saying, but I feel under-represented by how many of our
leaders are in the upper right quadrant. How can we achieve balance when the ship is listing to starboard like that?

7. I share your antipathy towards the First Quadrant, but look at who inhabits the First Quadrant --
Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, & Mugabe. Here's a poem by 19th century anarchist poet David Edelstadt:

"Already I can see our golden future
when the state will be crowned;
Socialist policemen will crowd every corner
From the president on his throne
To the sheriff tightening his rope
-All will be socialists
What do you say to such a happy prospect?"

"To the sheriff tightening his rope-All will be socialists" --- He pretty well nailed those "left-wing despots", but just barely hinted at the unspeakable HORRORS that were to come in the name of "revolution". In my heart, I KNOW that those in the Third Quadrant are the "best" sort --- but as the leaven rather than the main ingredient.

In 1932, FDR would probably have tested out WELL into the First Quadrant, and a lot more so than Obama. But events drove him "leftwards". That is my firm HOPE for Obama.
