My mother-in-law is in a hospice dying of lung cancer. (VENT WARNING!!! )

and my 55 year old brother-in-law thinks its appropriate to bring his mother RW rags to read on her death bed!!! This is an educated professional I'm talking about.

I am soooooooooooo pissssssed!!!

He is still trying to get her approval for his solitary life of selfishness. He still feels betrayed by her for turning into a radical feminist lesbian. I can't even look at the guy.

5. It doesn't sound like she has butted in at this point
merely expressing her frustration at the situation, which sounds entirely appropriate. Hopefully, if mom is having a problem with what son is bringing in, she has the wherewithall to ask him to cease and desist!

7. I am soooooooooooo pissssssed!!!
doesn't sound to me like someone who is keeping his/her mouth shut.

It's the BIL's mother. The OP needs to find something else to bitch about, like the fact that the MIL is dying, perhaps?

Besides, you're reading an awful lot into one post.

9. .
radical feminist lesbian says it all, for me.

And, judging by PMs I'm getting, I'm not the only one.

I'm out. Have fun.

10. If the poor woman is being inundated with RW crap, that would be a consideration
I wouldn't want my dying relative (even MY mother-in-law) to have some bully trying to force doctrine on her.
I threw my Great Aunt Retha out of my grandparents' house for doing something similar to my grandfather.

19. Thank you, you instincts seem pretty sound.
In the 38 years that she has been my mother-in-law, I have had much more contact with her than her son has. This is largely because when she herself declared herself a radical feminist lesbian 35 years ago, it was my wife and I that she turned to when her son rejected her and did not speak to her for years. Now she is at a point psychologically, where she is just accepting that the treatments she has been receiving will not delay her death. She wants her family around her showing care and sharing good memories. She is not interested in politcs anymore. More pressing matters have come into focus. But her son can't see past his need to justify his selfishness and previous ill treatment of her. I don't butt in. I don't even tell my wife about my frustration because it doesn't enter into her priorities right now.

I have the impression that some replies here are questioning my sincerity and others questioning my intelligence based on almost no information. Can you give me any insight as to why I am being assigned some nefarious motivation.

20. I think your OP may have been misinterpreted by some. I assumed the RFL in question
is your mother in law and the BIL (your wife's brother?) is the villain. Your sister as the other sibling may have the most leverage in getting him to back off, but I would stand with you if I were there and I don't even know you ...out of respect for the fact that all she wants is to be with her family in a contention free environment for one day should make your wife's brother back off. But if he is that insensitive he probably will never see it.

sorry for the difficulty and the grief your family is experiencing at this time and I wish I had known your MIL, she sounds really neat.

21. We're inundated with trolls here
You used a phrase Limbaugh uses. The right wing can't win honestly so they're invading and trying to create discord.
I'm afraid we're ALL very careful these days about anyone who isn't a member and doesn't have at least 1000 posts.
Don't take it personally. It's just a necessary right of passage.

I tried one time to listen to him and couldn't get past 90 seconds. It's dangerous for me since I have high blood pressure.

Seriously, the question to the poster is "what does your mother want to have around her"? Strangely enough, she might enjoy the mental stimulation of challengeing the RW screeds. Or, she may want the comfort of the writers she enjoys. When my fater was in a Hospice two years ago, I used to read Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd to him from the Times.
