6. How about poll questions about the uproar?
That wastes energy too.

How about pointing out that making a poll to ask a question about the uproar also wastes energy?

That's why you can't win.

7. I wonder what a satirical cover of McCain would look like?
Maybe a guy having Lieberman change his Depends diaper while shouting "being a POW is completely irrelevant, but, did you know I was a POW?" while his finger is poised above a nuclear button.

17. That's true - but if such a magazine cover about McCain was printed
would CNN be having pro and con debates on the issue, giving equal voice to those who liked it and those who found it tasteless?

19. thank God I no longer have cable tv
The McCain cover would need to have McCain being a "maverick", jailing Bush and the chickenhawk neo-cons, and refusing corporate cash. His wife baking cookies for the poor. A pic of Jimmy Carter on the wall...

23. mccain as rambo with lieberman whispering his lines in his ear.
cindy as Barbie, a trophey, or as Marie Antoinette would be in the background. Poor people would be begging for food, cindy could be giving them cake while mccain would be giving money to the rich. (maybe mccain should be a reverse Robin Hood with lieberman as one of his merry men, and cindy as Maid Marian) Oh well, there are a lot of them I could do on their actions.

22. Strongly OTHER!!!
The New Yorker is a terribly dull, totally irrelevant magazine, mildly ammusing on rare occasions.
It is an adequate read while waiting to see the dentist.

This is the most attention the magazine received for decades, so I guess their mission is accomplished - I did not even know they were still in business.

They are a vehicle to support high priced advertising and nothing more.

Who gives a shit about the New Yorker's opinion?

26. Just another 'issue' where EVERYONE is a self-proclaimed "expert."
It requires no research, academic knowledge, intellect, or special expertise to spew forth with an opinion that's self-serving, arrogant, and 'better' than anyone else's. In other words, the "bright, shiny thing" that attracts a host of internet pedants and posturers as well as talking heads strutting their stuff.

29. No
Option 2

But it's good for debate, though. It's interesting to see and hear all sides of the issue. It's been a bit excessive, though, and, to me, there are more important issues to be discussing besides a satirical political cartoon.

I don't believe this will be an issue in the long run.
