The news of Tony Snow's passing
brought a pause to my day, a pause in which I reflected that cancer doesn't give a damn about political affiliation. Those of us who have managed to survive its many horrific aspects know that no one "deserves" that particular sentence for any misdeed. No one. NO ONE. And let's face it -- if humans got everything we "deserve" this would be one very lonely planet. Wouldn't it?

8. I reserve my sympathy for the US soldiers and citizens of Iraq.

To Quote: News iCasualties

After five years in Iraq, the U.S. military has suffered over 33,000 casualties, more than 29,000 wounded and 4,000 dead, and it remains engulfed by three converging currents that constitute the Iraq War – the underlying military conflict, the battle for political control, and grinding civil strife.

11. Imagine if he'd had no health care coverage ... like nearly 50 million Americans.
Edited on Sat Jul-12-08 01:20 PM by TahitiNut
Or imagine if he'd only had Medicare and all his assets were seized? His family was fortunate that he not only had the affluence from peddling neoconservative propaganda, but he'd gotten put on the taxpayer payroll so people without health care coverage helped pay for the best health care coverage available: benefiting those who've made sure the taxpayers DON'T get it.

Colon cancer. Ironic.

Each year, more than 50,000 people in the U.S. die from colorectal cancer. He was one. How many do you suppose don't have coverage?

14. On the other hand
millions of people DO have health care provided by the corporations they work for.
Is there a problem with that?

Condolences to the family, RIP Mr. Snow

15. "Praise Corporations from which all blessings flow..."
"Praise them, all workers here below;
Praise them above, the wealthiest most;
Praise Boss, Owner, and Holy Toast! Mammon!"

16. I always thought Tony Snow wore a 'mask' doing his job...
He simply spoke the talking points..

I got the impression that he was a gentle person underneath the facade.
That he was asked to do a 'job' and he did it.
I will not dance on his grave.
