Iranian Missle Test Photo was Photoshopped
http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/10/in-an-iranian-image-a-missile-too-many/

There's lots of comments on the Times site about why they would bother, but I'm going to speculate that it's pretty simple.

The thing that is most interestingly missing in the altered image is the truck. Why bother to change the image? Showing the truck, with a missile still attached, likely indicates that one of the 4 missiles either misfired or failed altogether. A 25% failure rate wouldn't really create the impression they wanted.

1. I had to read the article to determine if it is believed that Iran did the photoshopping --
or Bushco.

Sad I distrust my own government so deeply.

3. Yes -- for a while I had hope that it could be averted,
now I fear it's Full Speed Ahead.

4. The Iranian version of MAD -
they want a credible threat that if they are attacked they can strike back at the US and its allies, so ya'll better leave us alone. That threat is less credible if 25% of their retaliatory missiles won't fire.

They learned from Korea and Iraq - the one who actually has WMDs will NOT be attacked.
