Can anyone explain why there wasn't a filibuster on FISA?
I just got back from the doctor and discovered the Senate voted against the 4th amendment.

I thought there was supposed to be one brave Democratic senator who was going to filibuster?

Why didn't one person stand up?

2. We didn't get enough votes against cloture
(This was before the July 4th break).

As I understand it -- (waiting to be corrected), that vote essentially closed down the possibility of an on-going filibuster.

Again, as I understand it, today (and yesterday) it was too late. Our chance was back before the break.

I'd like to know if I'm wrong because I'd like to understand how this works, too.

6. Don't tell me you give a shit about government
when you don't even know how a fillibuster works. Nothing personal.

8. Don't think for a minute (since you can't)...
...that my question came from ignorance; I usually ask to start a conversation or as a devil's advocate.

I just hope whoever reads this thread reads more than the subject lines.

Your participation in this matter is quite helpful.

9. "Why didn't one person stand up"
I read your entire post. It doesn't make any sense. Fillibusters aren't done with "one person".

7. It was pointless. You need 41 senators to support a filibuster, but too many Democrats hate freedom.
Nevermind the Republicans there. Nearly all the Repubs hate freedom.
