9. One TV.
The number in the household has changed over the years.

But we are almost the only middle-class family I know with only one TV. Not one per person. Not one per room. Just one TV.

I have two sons, now grown, now living elsewhere. One could not have cared less. the other really hated it that there was only one TV. But I know we did the right thing.

Multiple TVs are destructive to family life. NEVER have a TV in the bedroom. Never. If you have more than one family space, it's okay to have more than one TV. But children should NEVER have TVs in their rooms. Never.

If there's one thing I did right in raising my kids, it was not having multiple television sets.

15. Same here. You no-TV people HAVE NO LIFE!
Mind you, I work in TV. I see it all day. When I watch something, it has to be special, like The Venture Brothers, Smallville, Heroes or The Colbert Report.

I have a friend who doesn't watch TV. I had to tell her that Hillary Clinton was not the candidate. You people who brag "I have no TV, I am superior to you stinking peon grunt bourgeoisie" deserve to die in the hurricane, tornado or natural disaster you didn't know about BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO TV!

25. My wife watches TV but I don't..
Edited on Mon Jun-30-08 06:49 AM by Fumesucker
And I end up telling my TV watching family/friends all kinds of things they've never heard before.

Things like Bush's cousin, John Ellis, called the election for Bush on Fox News election night 2000..

One of the many things I have learned by reading rather than watching TV.

On edit: We have one Sony front projector which is hooked up both to the digital TV adapter box and to wife's computer and our gamecube. No regular TV at all..

16. One and a half?
One doesn't get any reception, so it's only used to watch DVDs and tapes. The other one is in my office. It's also mostly used for DVDs. My job requires that I watch films to create promotional products for those films. No cable, and network TV is garbage. Still, I do like to watch PBS once in a while.

The other time I like it is when I'm having one of my Housewife Moments and fold laundry while watching something like Oprah. :hide:

20. 1 TV, 4 people.....4 computers
The TV is connected to an antennae on the roof and some of the channels are a bit fuzzy. Haven't decided what we're going to do when they stop broadcasting in Feb. '09.....it's not really that important to 'me', but the kids are probably gonna put up a fuss if we don't have any teevee access at all.

Can't say I watch much more than The Office or Lost however.

My wife enjoys watching her stories, and the tvs in the old kids room's are seldomly used.

24. Three for one person . . .
One in family/living room, one in bedroom, one in spare bedroom. I haven't paid a cent for any of them. I am the collector of all family hand-me-downs. Eh, it may sound excessive, but it's better than ending up in a landfill. And they're all on the fritz. I tried giving one away but no one wanted it :(

26. One in the family room...I don't allow TVs in bedrooms (including mine).
We do have a small battery-powered TV for power outages (Florida), but it will be worthless in a few months when they switch to digital broadcast.

:(

30. One TV, 3 People
No satellite or cable. Over here we have something called Freeview, which is about 15 or so useful channels, mainly the over air channels. Since we got rid of Sky (satellite provider), we hardly ever watch tv anymore, except Friends or CSI. The downside (for me at least) is that the over air channels don't carry a lot of sports (that I like), so no more Sunday afternoons watching football (soccer)!

I do watch baseball on MLBTV.Com, if that counts.
