Arianna On ABC's This Week Discussing Obama, McCain And More

Arianna appeared on ABC's This Week, with George Stephanopoulos, along with Katrina vanden Heuvel, Byron York and Hugh Hewitt. In the first clip below she explains how John McCain is the Republicans' Trojan horse, and in the second she calls out Hewitt for his remarks that the U.S. would probably be blown up by the Islamists under a President Obama.

1. Hewitt got a lot more time than he'd ever give
In the second clip, when Arianna is quoting his own words to him, Hewitt got plenty of time to explain "what he really meant," far more than he ever grants to anyone else. And he still comes across as a whiny little pissant.

2. I love Arianna. I got to meet her when she was still a right winger, and she was a gracious charmer
I thought she was hot. Still do. I disagreed with her politics then, but found her an extraordinarily gracious person. (God help me, but so was Marilyn Quayle, back in '88).

Anyway, I was doing press work then, and she was a delight. Glad she's on our side now.

By the way, Robert Bork was a pig, who left his cigarette butts all over my press room. Pat Paulsen was as nice a person as you will ever meet, as was Mark Russell. William F. Buckley was an a-hole, but so was Nina Totenberg. Scott Turow was a very nice young man back then. Alex Haley was wonderful; Beverly Sills was indeed a diva, but a cheerful one. Loads of stories here.

Can't say I ever personally met any of the Clampetts.
