What is the one biggest personal flaw of George W Bush ?
I have always thought it was his inability to listen to anyone else. He believes what he believes and, by God, he will stick with it even if it kills you. It is a very unappealing arrogance - one wed with ignorance.

One of the first things that people noticed about Dubya was the way he walked. He walked that way because that is the way he is - a strutter and a bully. He mocked people with nicknames. And people nervously laughed with him...

We all have our own personal flaws and many of them are obvious at first impression. Would you gleefully giggle at the prospect of another person's death? Karla Faye Tucker was God's example of showing us the true character of George W Bush, but most Americans ignored the warning sign.

11. Yes, his pathology is his biggest flaw
and also his greatest strength among conservatroids, who I believe predominantly lack the 'empathy gene.'

I believe John Kenneth Galbraith nailed their entire philosophy eloquently in a single sentence:

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

I don't know that it is possible to single out a "biggest personal flaw" with someone like George Bush. When I look at him I see someone who is extremely selfish to the point that the only thing important to him is him if that makes any sense, grasping, arrogant, deliberately obnoxious and proud of it, ignorant in spite of his Harvard education (see his use of gooder instead of better in speeches), cold, destructive, cultivated a lifetime pattern of wastefulness. He's not a nice person. He may be able to put on a nice regular guy front, but when all is said and done its only a front and behind the front is a lot of ugliness.

22. I totally agree with you. He's a bully
It is indicative of everything you say and more. He takes great pleasure (as Vince Bugliosi says) in the mean things he does. He likes to ridicule his 'enemies'. His strutting is also an act. His entire so-called personality is a facade which occasionally falls away long enough for people to see the sickness he is. He enjoys the fact that his say so is the last word, that he can send people to their death, cause wars, slash the Constitution, and let people in New Orleans drown. He really loves that power and he loves to use it in ways that hurt people.

13. He is afraid of horses
And he probably has reason to be. Horses are among the most intuitive of animals. I'm sure they can sense when as asshole is nearby.

Our horses used to go nuts when the guy showed up to read the electric meter. He never did a thing but read the meter and leave. But it got so bad we had to ask them to call ahead so we could put them inside when he came because they acted so irrationally. Even inside the barn they got nervous when he would arrive. One day a new guy showed up and the horses barely noticed. We asked him what happened to the old guy and found out he was in jail for beating the crap out of his wife. He never came back. After that we began letting the horses out again and never got a reaction out of them.

21. Most animals can sense fear
I keep birds. They can instantly sense fear, and they react. Not by being nervous, but by becoming more aggressive, which is interesting, but I have observed it many times. I for instance have a bit of fear about horses, just because I am not around them that much, their size, my own inexperience with them. I know they are going to be nervous around me because I am nervous around them. :)

24. he is an unenlightened human being..
so stuck in his own sub-par mental wiring that no light could ever possibly shine in to bring a true understanding within his internal programmed responses. A person within a personal hell of "will never change" because they do not have the ability to conceive their way out". That spark of what some might call "spirit" that makes humans capable of greatness.. and that we can even see displayed within the eyes of our fellow animals, is missing in this creature. A walking conglomeration of organs unfortunately controlled by a defective mind.

27. Sheer arrogance
Edited on Sat Jun-28-08 10:07 AM by Canuckistanian
He never learns from mistakes. Never evaluates his own actions. Never even acknowledges the negative consequences of his bad decisions.

He CONSTANTLY talks in a pollyanna language that denies any HINT of the disasters he's caused.

He shows virtually NO critical thinking abilities and relies on others to feed him his "opinions".
And even THEN, he manages to screw it up.

He shows NO interest in affairs beyond his small bubble of sycophants and fellow oligarchs. He is incurious almost to the point of catatonia.

I suppose all these traits are an indication of his twisted sociopathy.

America is going to take a LONG time to recover from GWB. If it ever does.

>>>>>Would you gleefully giggle at the prospect of another person's death?<<<<<

It depends 100% on who the corpse is. I might enjoy my fantasy world with the many scenarios I can dream up, but acting upon those wishes in RL is as likely as me running a marathon. Which means it would never happen.

I think that everyone creates scenarios where someone might exact revenge upon another, but the key is whether it is actionable.

As far as the bozo in chief is concerned, I think his main weakness is his arrogance. It's been the one thing which has given him hubris and the desire to fuck other people over so much. He won't listen to anyone who might actually know what they're doing, instead of becoming a tool for others who flatter him and make him feel bigger than he is. We can blame a lot of that on Babs and Poppy, because he never learned humility--someone was bailing him out all his life. So he instead ignores reason in favor of pure, unadulterated malice and connivance. But it's mainly because those were the "values" that were instilled in him. I don't feel sorry for him at all--he is a tool for a lot of whackos, and he just loves his own role in all of these schemes and plans.
