So, four paternalistic old white men ...
joined by Fat Tony Scalia's personal lawn jockey, have decided that they know better than those ignorant darkies in Washington D.C. The gun ban referendum was approved by an overwhelming margin by D.C. residents (one of the few votes the District's citizens are allowed which actually have (had) the force of law). But apparently, that's tough shit. The folks most affected by gun violence, the ones whose sons and daughters are nightly killed ... their voice doesn't matter. The massa has spoken.

2. I agree with your sentiments,
but the law was very badly drawn, and that was the fatal flaw. It wasn't well-thought-out or drafted, and that was the cause for its being overturned.

I suspect Kennedy would have swung over to the other side if he'd had a chance, but with this law, as it was written, he had none.

3. Same as the old white men in CA that said the constitution of CA protects the rights
of gays to marry? I guess what the majority in a place wants is what we should do right?

5. Obama said he didn't support the "gun ban" he said it went too far and he isn't a
"paternalistic old white man or lawn jockey." I don't agree with him BTW> I support the ban.

7. For a moment I thought you were maybe talking about the dissenters...

but I was going to say that one of them was a woman.

The gun ban referendum was approved by an overwhelming margin by D.C. residents (one of the few votes the District's citizens are allowed which actually have (had) the force of law).

The good thing about our "democracy" is that its not all about mob rule and what is popular, here for the most part we try to protect our rights even if they arent popular in some parts. If you dont like that then change the constitution.

The folks most affected by gun violence, the ones whose sons and daughters are nightly killed ... their voice doesn't matter. The massa has spoken.

Thats sad, but if those people are the ones who voted for the gun bans then indirectly they themselves are partially responsible. When you are unable or unwilling to confront the people who are turning your neighborhood into a shithole these kinds of things happen.
