Now is The Golden Moment, Madam Speaker and Majority Leader Reid.
Libby, Ex-Cheney Aide, Convicted in CIA Leak Case, March 6, 2007

"Today's guilty verdicts are not solely about the acts of one individual."

"This trial provided a troubling picture of the inner workings of the Bush Administration," said Pelosi. "The testimony unmistakably revealed -- at the highest levels of the Bush Administration -- a callous disregard in handling sensitive national security information and a disposition to smear critics of the war in Iraq." ---Madam Speaker Nancy Pelosi, March 6, 2007

"I welcome the jury's verdict. It's about time someone in the Bush Administration has been held accountable for the campaign to manipulate intelligence and discredit war critics," said Reid in a press statement. "Lewis Libby has been convicted of perjury, but his trial revealed deeper truths about Vice President Cheney’s role in this sordid affair. Now President Bush must pledge not to pardon Libby for his criminal conduct." ---Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, March 6, 2007

"I do not expect to file any further charges, the investigation was inactive prior to the trial," the Chicago-based federal attorney who led the prosecution said. "We're all going back to our day jobs."
However, Fitzgerald did concede "If new information comes to light, of course we'll do that."

A reporter prompted Fitzgerald on whether he would scale down his recommendations for a sentence if Libby were to offer more information to the prosecution that wasn't previously known.
"They can contact us," Fitzgerald responded of Libby and his attorneys.

Another reporter asked whether or not the prosecution would turn over sealed files from the grand jury investigation to a Congressional investigation. Fitzgerald gave a measured answer.
"If Congress does something or not, we are not going to predict that," he said. "We will do what's appropriate."
---Patrick Fitzgerald, March 6, 2007

Here is The Moment, Madam Speaker and Majority Leader Reid. Ask for the sealed files from the grand jury investigation, and commence with a full Congressional investigation into VP Cheney's role in this egregious act of treason, committed solely for political and financial gain.

Unleash a torrent of investigations into Cheney's role in this wantonly calculated exposure of one the most critically important intelligence networks that America had, and that was the framework of our knowledge about the spread of nuclear weapons. This is indeed an assault on the national security of the United States.

The time is NOW for Congress to act, for if it does not, it will be forever seen as a contributor to the death of truth and justice for our nation.

1. Now the hammer falls and hits hard
Just as an aside to those who were howling for impeachment from November 7th, NOW they have what they need to make their move to set up the pins then knock them down. As long as they look like they're doing it because it's necessary and proper then they won't look like partisan hacks like Gingrich and Co. did with Bill Clinton. This is something that WILL lead into everything else, this is the chink in their armor.

2. Yup, launch the investigations or else!
I am predicting that when we launch investigations into these murderous criminal scum fucks, we will find things like when the Nuremburg Trials launched.

4. There will be no investigations.
Cheney will resign for health reasons and a new VP will be appointed and approved by the Senate. Then we can get back to the real important work of passing non-binding resolutions! Because the people of the US must believe that this congress is doing something! (All it needs is our "belief")...

8. I agree
they have been ignoring what "we" want since November. Why should a little thing like treason make them act now?

5. Even Andrew Sullivan gets this.
Something is rotten in the heart of Washington; and it lies in the vice-president's office. The salience of this case is obvious. What it is really about - what it has always been about - is whether this administration deliberately misled the American people about WMD intelligence before the war. The risks Cheney took to attack Wilson, the insane over-reaction that otherwise very smart men in this administration engaged in to rebut a relatively trivial issue: all this strongly implies the fact they were terrified that the full details of their pre-war WMD knowledge would come out. Fitzgerald could smell this. He was right to pursue it, and to prove that a brilliant, intelligent, sane man like Libby would risk jail to protect his bosses. What was he really trying to hide? We now need a Congressional investigation to find out more, to subpoena Cheney and, if he won't cooperate, consider impeaching him.

----Andrew Sullivan, March 6, 2007

7. Sometimes I wonder if Cheney is J. Edgar Hoover incarnate
and he has the goods on a whole lot of people...including Bush.

12. It lies at the feet of the President as well.
Everyone was taking orders and carrying out the agenda of the "commander in chief." The fall guys do keep climbing up that ladder, however.

Get the investigations going in high gear, and the FACTS will force impeachment back on the table.

10. Was there ever anything else on the Sealed vs Sealed thing?
That seems to have dropped through the cracks.
