Another thread asked if the candidates wives are fair game.

I'd like to ask what about her is on the table?

Her family's corporate jet has given Admiral McCombover free rides all over the country. This should be on the table because she hasn't released her tax returns.

In a related note, how much money does she make? How much has she/will she benefit from the GOP tax cuts?

Personally, I don't think the spouses are off the table, but we do have to be careful which details we demand be made part of the campaign. (Please see this post for a very good argument why we shouldn't)

Her previous addiction should not have an effect on McCain performing the duties if he became President.

There may be other factors about his wife that would be material.

And those dresses at that store are retro to my era - the late '50s, the '60s & early '70s. How I enjoyed wearing sleeveless - good memories.

Sewing was fun back then, too. It didn't take much fabric to run up a mini dress on mom's Singer.

are around the same age. I used to sew on my mom's Singer too! I loved to sew halter tops dresses, which took no time. I was also into peasant blouses and created a few of them. They had sleeves but I was able to wear them much higher than I do now! :)

....to ruin the career of the whistle-blower.

Mrs. McCain's employee probably saved her life, by bringing her drug use to light.
Despite that, His career was ruined. McCain called in his legal big hats to accuse the whistle blower of extortion, when he sued for wrongful termination.

8. I think Mrs. McCain's yeoman financial and material support for the candidate
puts her in a separate category. She's not separate and independent and not connected to the mechanics of the campaign, like Michelle. She is a top executive, as it were, of McCain's campign. Those aspects of her role should be on the table and vigorously criticized.

Personal stuff of spouses on both sides should be avoided (not in favor of blasting her for her record on drug abuse--although if McCain were the druggie he should be--destructive personal habits of the candidates should be on the table, like Obama's smoking for example.)

...who knows to what extent she influences him.

She is after all a business woman, and she's still got all her faculties.

Perhaps we should be asking why his campaign is keeping her influence so secret.

Americans deserve to know who is running this campaign.

The elderly former POW, or his business woman-wife/Lady Macbeth.

it is important that we know everything she is trying to hide.

13. Not saying it should be "on the table" but why tell them it's "off the table"?
Best to keep them guessing. Say just enough about it to let them know you are aware of it and could stress it if the occasion demanded it (like if the swift boat asswipes re emerge or attacks on Michelle Obama begin to appear).

If they know it won't be brought up they will feel free to attack our candidate and his family without being afraid of retaliation.

I'm almost sure Obama doesn't think it's "off the table" even though he'd never say that out loud. His background is in Chicago politics after all.

According to this video tape of the incident, Admiral McCombover clearly called her a both a trollop and a cunt.

It is my assertion that her cuntiness does not supercede her trollopishness.

But, it is you anti-trollop/pro-cunt people who do the American people (and the national discourse) a great disservice by ignoring the half of her heritage that you see as somehow beneath that of her heri-cunt-age.

Have we in this cuntry not evolved past these petty disagreements?

49. She and her background are on the table to the extent she campaigns for McCain,
to the extent her background's relevant to the campaign, and to the extent she influences McCain.

Michelle's sleevelessness was below the belt; the MSM seemed to engage in that act of puffery, not "Cindy" (IIRC, that's her name, it doesn't matter to me).

But her drug dependency was known and is known. So's Obama's drug usage. Which is more important--his usage, of which we only know what he's admitted in what amounts to a semi-fictionalized autobiography, or her dependency? If we raise the spectre of her dependency, isn't questioning his prior usage fair?

Questioning details about her that aren't relevant, doesn't that legitimize questioning irrelevant details about Michelle?

Or do we so love the "old" politics that we want to play it in Obama's name?

Serious questions. Don't see any politically popular answers.

55. Questioning details about her that aren't relevant,
That's a good point.

But, you know full well we no one outside the GOP has control of what issues their media discuss and how they frame them.

What do you think is the most effective way to combat that tactic?

Will enough phone calls to the network to shut down their phone system do it?

Will enough hits on their website to crash their servers be enough?

Will enough letters showing the amount of money their sponsors will lose be enough?

Taking the high rode is invisible.

We may feel good, but it is likely we'd feel good as the tactic continues.
