Same Sex Marriage Has Local Talk Show Host All Tied In Knots!!!!
As most know, same sex marriage is now legal in CA.

Welllll....

San Diego local talk show host, Mark Larson 1700AM, is on the air making a big deal out of same sex marriage.

Yep he is. I tuned in to hear liberal talker, Stacy Taylor guest along with GOP mouthpiece Mark Larson and Larson was droning on about THE CHILDREN! WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!!!!!
When it comes to same sex marriages???????!!!!!!!!!!! Taylor did not show for Larson's diatribe and I couldn't take more than 15 minutes of his show.

How do we explain to our poor children that uncle Jim is married to another man!!!!????? How do teachers talk about TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE NOW?????

I would call if I could make myself stay civil and I would tell Mr. Larson:

My brother in law is married legally to his same sex partner. My kids know they have two uncles who love them. They accept it because I accept it. Period. They know about homosexuality because I sat them down and told them that some people are attracted to the same gender as themselves and that was all I said. My children will not need years of therapy to get beyond this nor will knowing about it MAKE THEM GAY. If they are gay, it is predetermined in the womb. People know who they are attracted to when they are very young. Ask anyone, straight or gay and they are very direct about it. They usually say, "I knew when I was 6 years old that I liked girls (or boys.")

WTF is wrong with people who can not understand this simple, easy to grasp FACT?

I believe shrouding sex as some sacred, secret thing is what fucks people up. I should know being raised by sexually repressed Mormon Republicans.

in an illegal war.
But they have their panties in a wad over a little love between two people.

3. The guy needs to stop living in the '70s.
Kids are WAY more relaxed about gay people and gay relationships than my generation was. The only thing they don't get is why old people think it's such a big freaking deal.

20. Bingo!
That's what my generation (Uh... I think I'm "Y"? I have no idea. Tail end of X? Blah)and the next one are concerned about here - Why are these repressed old farts trying to dictate to other people who they can be with?

I think they fail to realize that their own kids very likely see homosexuality as a normal part of life, or at worst, something liek autism that some people "have" but that doesn't call for any scorn.

21. So true
I am an older parent. 51 YO with young kids, 7 and 8. I was raised by idiots who made an issue out of homosexuality and passed it on to me. I had to live on my own and get some real life experience under my belt to fend off the illusion that there is only one, normal lifestyle.

Thankfully my children did not inherit my parents idiocy.

9. My Dear Peggy,
You made my day!

hey, I have two chickens in the smoker today. I brined them over night and this morning I put my special rub all over their poor nekkid bodies this a.m. and now they are making the neighborhood smell like heaven. I am giving one of them to my republican neighbors who loves my barbeque! See, I can reach across the aisle!

the twit has been married but great point! I wish Taylor was on, I would call. Taylor has been married to the same woman forever. I don't know about Larson. I couldn't take listening to the show any longer and had to turn it off. My blood pressure was blasting my hair off my head.

15. that's the question they never want to address, the divorce rate between straight couples
and the causes, it's much easier to just distract the attention away from that by talking about the evils of gay marriage. How can i explain that to the children, "Mommy why is that mean man ducking the question?"

18. Until there is a definite genetic link
we are going to have to fight this battle. Once we can prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that homosexuality is NOT a choice we win.

THESE people will then say that homosexuality, being genetic, can be cured by gene therapy. They'll set out to do exactly that: womb screening for "teh gay".

24. Except that you won't win in some circles. I know for a fact that some
evangelical churches will keep up the "pray teh gayness away" programs. You know how they wiggle around and switch their every view to keep forcing new scientific info to conform to their literal biblical viewpoint. In the last 5 years I have had heard more and more of these christians saying that they look upon homosexuality as being like alcoholism. They'll say, "Sure, there's a physiological reason for this, but it's a defect, an aberration. It requires treatment." Either you cure the gay people or they, like alcoholics, renounce their sin and stay away from it.

And then there are the Phelpses of the world, who will just cling to their irrational hatred no matter what science we show them. *sigh*

33. I have proof
It's called "asking".

Example:
"Are you gay?"

"Yes"

"Did you choose to be gay?"

"No"

How simple.

38. Of course.
Asking heteros when they chose not to be gay also works. ;)

As does asking the offended "won't somebody think of the children!" right winger why anybody would choose to be a victim of discrimination and experience second class citizenship.

Roger Hedgecock's producer was filling in for Roger.

One of his guests was the editor of The Advocate. Jimmy was civil to him, but after the interview Jimmy couldn't stop himself from saying that he seemed like a nice guy but didn't understand that what he was doing was tearing the very fabric of society.

26. They live on (and in) fear
If they begin to comprehend that something they're railing against is, in fact, normal it upsets their world view and makes their heads hurt.

Their ranting and raving also reveals that they might have a little trouble with empathy too. They sure aren't putting themselves in the shoes of another and trying to see the world from the people they're persecuting, are they?

I also like to remind these morons that gay marriage helps the economy. And in more ways than their little heads can imagine. First, it helps governments because they collect marriage license fees. It helps businesses because people can have wedding receptions which means caterers, pastry chefs and liquor stores all get an increase in sales. Plus, it helps our transportation and hotel industries. Often people like to take time off and celebrate the marriage of their loved ones by attending the wedding. This means they fly and have to find places to stay. Also, recently married couples like to have honeymoons. Then there are gifts and clothes.

More importantly, now that people can get married, they can add their partner to their insurance policies and this helps reduce health care costs for a lot of couples. This means that one partner may be taken off of state aid or it can mean that instead of paying for two different insurance policies that couples can decide which health care plan to purchase and they might end up saving money, thereby freeing it up to spend on things they want (like food and gasoline). And these are just a few of the ways a state's can economy improve because of gay marriage.

32. It boogles my mind too
I don't know why it should bother anyone. I really don't.

My husband and I were married five years ago (this Friday). I was the one who was holding out. My husband called a gay couple we know and had them talk me into it. They talked about the advantages to getting married like having a say in his medical care to lowered car insurance for married couples. So, I like to tell people that the only reason I got married was because a gay couple talked me into it. In return, I've become a more vocal advocate for gay marriage and GLBT rights. I had been advocate before but since I got married I've become more active in lobbying for it for everyone.

And, for what's it worth, my marriage is doing just fine. My husband and I haven't talked about divorce once since the California courts made their ruling. I also haven't seen any man-dog sex and I haven't heard of a single incident of the sky falling.

Nor, unfortunately, have GOP heads exploded. I was kind of looking forward to this last one.

28. We have had someone come to us after one of our kid's birthday
party say to my wife, "I'm going to have to have a long talk with (insert kid's name here) tonight." because a lesbian couple was there. The kid probably didn't even notice. There were no public displays of affection, it was just a normal kid's birthday party. We just did the normal introductions, that's when she figured it out I guess, but because of it, she thought it was necessary to have a long talk with her 7 year old about it. My kids even went to their wedding when it was finally legal here in NJ, they see it as not a big deal.

That's one good thing about NJ, there are so many different kinds of people here to meet the kids growing up here now, at least in my area, really don't have any of these hang-ups that I can see. It's kind of nice.
