Chavez: Negroponte a Professional Killer
By ELIZABETH M. NUNEZ - President Hugo Chavez on Sunday said he believes enemies including the CIA are out to kill him, and called U.S. diplomat John Negroponte a 'professional killer.'

Chavez said Venezuelan officials have intelligence that associates of jailed Cuban anti-communist militant Luis Posada Carriles also are involved in plotting to assassinate him.

He said the death plot idea has 'gained weight' due to various factors, including the recent appointment of Negroponte, the former director of national intelligence, as deputy to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

'Who did they swear in ... there at the White House as deputy secretary of state? A professional killer: John Negroponte,' Chavez said.

Chavez did not elaborate, but his government has previously accused Negroponte of playing a key role in the Contra war against the leftist Sandinista government of Nicaragua when he served as ambassador to Honduras - a haven for clandestine Contra bases - from 1981 to 1985

1. No need to elaborate. This whole administration is full of felons
and murderers.

4. Nothing more irritating to this administration, than a democratically elected
socialist with a good sense of history.

3. He's one government employee whose reputation precedes him.
Many of us heard of Negroponte at the same time we heard of his connection to the death squads, and the sorry. sorry job he did to help the Reagan administration conceal atrocities.

What a dreadful legacy. He's a man whose hand many people would refuse to shake.

6. "death squad" Negroponte is a class A thug.
This guy is truly a war criminal of the highest order. He has Kissinger style blood on his hooves.

This is of course why he continually fails upward.

Training death squads in latin america, to training death squads in iraq: the career of John "Death Squad" Negroponte.

Got a nice ring to it dontcha think?:puke:

5. Who here will say Bush doesn't want his thugs at the CIA to kill Chavez?
Edited on Mon Mar-05-07 07:32 PM by GreenTea
The CIA is only in operation to protect American corporations and it's imperialism NOTHING more....Kill any leaders that are democratically elected (Guatemala, Chile, Australia, etc.) Leaders of countries that make American companies pay their fare share in taxes & royalties in their country...as Chavez is doing now with American oil companies....The CIA (nor BushCo) certainly are not anywhere in the world for the American tax payers who actually finance the CIA...The CIA only goal is to steal and kill for American corporations...There is no evidence to support the CIA does otherwise...

Of course BushCo and the CIA want to kill the democratically elected Chavez, who received 63% of the vote by the people of his country.

8. Salvador Allende was a socialist not a communist as uneducated people love to label all who are not
Edited on Mon Mar-05-07 07:49 PM by GreenTea
right-wing neocons, a communist! Salvador Allende was elected and that was the people of Chile's choice, certainly not the choice of the CIA death squads or our right-wing political leaders and their robot followers you speak of...No matter how much one disagrees with the political ideology of socialism it's their choice not ours...So our capitalist sponsored corporate CIA killers are given the green light to go kill for the corporations and they believe this is OK because they labeled someones ideology they disagree with a communist?

11. Political labels like "socialist", "communist" are intentionally used to isolate, discriminate
Allende was a humanitarian. He believed in promoting fairness and compassion.

He was a person who actually cared about other people.

That's all.

No "Socialist", or "communist" label need apply.

He cared.

And because he cared, he was punished by those who DON'T care.

9. I was surprised when Wes Clark called him a "good man".
That was during the interview with Amy Goodman last week.

I should add that I really like Wes. I suppose he uses his words wisely? I can't imagine how "good" can be used to describe Negroponte. But I'm off topic here.
