*BIG* NBC/WSJ poll as reported by Andrea Mitchell
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 06:10 PM by underpants
Obama leads McCain 54-42

Obama/Clinton 52
McCain/romney 41

Top concerns
Economy 27%
War in Iraq 24%
Gas (twenty something)%

"people are coming around to McCain's point of view on the war
Withdraw 49%
Stay 45%
this was still outside of the 3.1%MOE but it was less of a spread from sometime in 2007 (this is from memory)

This was the part that got me

She reported that Obama problem, the poll showed, was with White men and Suburban women

NO NUMBERS WERE GIVEN

As long as Obama stays at about 40% with White males he is fine
The Suburban women could be a problem but again

NO NUMBERS WERE GIVEN.

4. There's a DUer with a button for sale
that sales "Hard-working White Woman for Obama".

I'm an old white woman, too, so I can't remember his name.

11. Well, he's going to get 30% by default (the backwash)
So we really only have to convince 1 out of 7 voters that McPain will be a Bushian disaster.

3. Feeling pretty good about where we're at.
12 point lead coming out of a primary that couldn't have been rougher.

That economy percentage is going to raise and with it Democratic chances will get better and better.

5. McCain is sitting on fool's gold
He might hope to win over "Hillary Democrats" (as Pat Buchanan put it while shilling for Hillary), but he doesn't have a plan to win them over. This was discussed in detail on Hardball on MSNBC tonight. Turns out that a good 50% of women supporting McCain are pro-choice. Most of them didn't know his stance on abortion, but they had a much lesser opinion after finding out what it was. Also, as soon as Hillary comes back from her vacation and goes stumping for Obama, McCain's numbers will start dropping like a rock.

6. According to Andrea and Brian, Obama's got big problems!
McCain's problems must be fucking huge, but they didn't discuss.

Good work, GE warmongers.

8. Leave the hack to themselves
When push comes to shove, Democrats and Independents will vote them out. I think Brian and Andrea living in their Washington bubble have no idea of the increasing rage among ordinary folks.

17. THAT is going to be a huge part of this
the more DC tries to slam the "new guy" the more people will turn off the alternative.

No one NO ONE trusts the press. If they had any brains they would throw in for Obama and then MAYBE McCain would have a real chance in this.

13. a little while ago I saw on Hardball
White men are : M 55 to O 35
Suburban Women were: M 46 to O 38

Hispanics have moved to Obama: O 66 to M 32

I may be off a point or two I was going memory, I couldn't find a link but I think it was the NBC/WS poll. I think that Hispanic vote is more than enough to make up for the deficit with the white male and the soccer moms. I guess 9/11 really shook up the soccer mom.

18. "people are coming around to McCain's point of view on the war" And which POV would THAT be?
The one where has was all gungho for the war, or the one where he says he has always been a critic of the war before Obama since the first Gulf War?
