I have an idea...

what say that those of us who watch these Cable New Channels, seemingly round the clock, keep a real close eye on these Rethug liars like Brad Blakeman, or Candy Crowley(!) who are professional dirty-tricks people. There should be immediate posts in GD with a specific format such as:

ALERT! BLAKEMAN LYING ON MSNBC RE: OBAMA GOLFING

and then, e-mails sent en masse to the offending network expressing displeasure at the bald-faced lying. This would work...we should form our own rapid-strike force to get these guys as fast as possible from the viewpoint of the viewer, as opposed to the networks hearing only the Obama Campaign's official response.

It would sensitize the newsreaders (why call them reporters when they ain't) to call them on it, rather than have 300 e-mails instantly show up and threaten advertiser boycotts, etc.

It's the right thing to do - we'll frame the arguments in truth and not let them get away with 'uh-huh' when guys like Brad impugn our nominee.

2. "...as opposed to just the Obama Campaign...."
Obama did say in his speech:
The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment—this was the time—when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.

This is when we take back our country.

Obama may be the leader of the party and the next president, but that doesn't mean we can sit back waiting for him to tell us what we need to do.

4. We know we aren't automatons.
Only the GOP authoritarians can't understand that people aren't mindless sheep.

5. I really do believe that the Underground aspect of
the Democratic/Progressive movement during the last 7 years has been the catalyst which has begun to liberate this country from this crypto-fascist crowd. It's what is happening in China and elsewhere...

We soon won't have to see ourselves as Underground...many who came here a long time ago thought that they were one of just a relatively few people who felt that they had been lost politically, with no home to which to go: that the stealing of the Election in 2000 was the beginning of the end of America, of Voting rights, of the Constitution. It was not so and I strongly believe that this site and others were an integral part of this historic change in our path.

6. I am awed by this community.
How quickly it can react and organize to do something.

Truly amazing.

7. I totally agree with you
I used to read posts back in 2005 just to know I wasn't alone because on the outside world it sure felt like it sometimes.

8. Sounds cool.
Maybe we need an ALERT forum instead of using GD? Also, I could envision a system where those who sign up as members of the Strike Force get a little red flashing alert somewhere on their screen whenever a new alert is posted, that signals them to go check the ALERT forum & take action. Wow, this could end up being a dynamite system.

9. It would be graded into
say, three levels of lies...

1. The routine crap - Elevated
2. Funky turn-of-phrase - High
3. Outright LIE - Imminent

We could 'do it' like the Homeland Security folks tried...

it would eat up the entire bandwidth for the site...

Reporting that Obama played golf during Hillary's speech? And that is a problem, why? It's not like he was invited or anything. Fortunately, the two other commentators laughed it off right after it was laid out there. But that won't always be the case.

I don't trust the media snakes. If Obama or Clinton had given the speech McCain gave on Tuesday night, they would have been crucified. McCain (outside of a few commentators and Jon Stewart) was given a free pass. Why didn't we see that slimy smile of his on a 24/7 loop? While every gaffe that Obama commits will be magnified and beat to death, McCain's gaffes will be ignored or minimized.

I like the idea of mass emails whenever one of these creeps insinuates some innocent behavior on Obama's part signifies something more than what it is. We must have Obama's back or they will try to wound him with a million cuts. They will try to fit everything he does into one of the many frames they traditionally use against Democrats . . . let's see, "he's elitist," "he has no experience," "he is not tough on terrorists," "he will raise your taxes" and so the #%%@ on.

We should definitely get ourselves organized and do this. Media Matters is a great source. It documents media transgressions against Democrats.

11. Yes...
I don't like this 'empty suit' meme. How dare they...they had an impaired do-nothing governor of a state wherein the guv has little executive power, except for executions, and they call our guy an empty suit?

14. As you probably know, they're experts at "projection"
They take something true about themselves (that the ex-gov was an 'empty suit') and project it onto a political enemy as though it were true of that person. They do it all the time, every day somewhere. Whenever they assert a personal/personality trait about a Democrat, you can bet your bottom dollar that it's true of the Rethug and not the Dem. It also seems to be an ability that is hard-wired into their own thinking processes, because so many of them seem to do it natually & unrehearsed, as though it is now part of their DNA. Probably has something to do with a primitive thinking mechanism that seems to follow the authoritarianistic mindset.
